I know. They're also still tracking you and using your data indirectly if someone who knows you has an account. I read once that they even built up demographic data (some of it by inference) for people who have never had a Facebook account by data mining all their family and acquaintances.

There should be a law against all this. This is the reason I deleted my account but I know behind the scenes they are still collecting my data from every site I go to.

Most of the names I can think of for the renaming aren't printable herein...

The problem with Facebook is that it got so popular among my age group, the Baby Boomer generation, and they are generally not that tech savvy so that might be why. Yes, there are many other social media apps available. However, the Boomers don't care for those on the same scale as they do Facebook. You wouldn't expect Boomers to hang out in the same night clubs as Gen Z and Gen Y, so you shouldn't expect them, and Gen X too as far as that goes, to use the social media apps and services that appeal to younger generations. So for whatever weird reasons there are, the Boomers and Gen X seem to use Facebook and refuse to switch. Perhaps the younger generations can't understand this, but that is just the way it is, and therein lies the problem. In this modern age families are spread out over continents and around the globe. It is not easy keeping in touch the old fashion ways by snail mail, telephone, etc. It is fairly easy to keep in touch on social media like Facebook though. We can easily get together in groups and exchange information. Just about all of my friends and family hate Facebook, but there is no real alternative to it at the moment, so we either stay on and stay in touch, or we abandon it and lose touch. Facebook is the necessary evil we deal with in order to stay in touch and up to date with family and friends. The ZuckerTURD knows that, and he knows he can get away with just about anything because is user base is too attached and addicted to his monster creation to leave it.

The whole thing reminds me of when Google changed their name to Alphabet. Oh you forgot that? So did everyone else. Facebook will still be Facebook. The website won't change. They're just changing the corporate parent name.

Seems like a waste of resources to me.

I bet it starts with a Z because he’s vain and it’s the opposite of Alphabet. So my guess on a name is Zenith. And I till don’t like them…

It's probably to make them seem less like a monopoly. If they have a parent company, then Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp are all subsidiaries, so it gives the allusion of individual companies and less likely to be broken up.

Well if nothing else...perhaps Tim could learn some things from Zucks about keeping internal secrets, secret? Even the M1 Pro and M1 Max names were leaked hours before Apple could unveil them, as well as that notch we're all still scratching our heads over...

Hours? Like multiple blocks of 60 minutes?

I feel so hipsterish. I locked my account down, turned it invisible, and stopped using it years ago, way before it was cool!

On a more serious note, I agree with John Gruber that Facebook is basically an ongoing criminal enterprise that is actively undermining our ability to maintain a civil society or even a shared sense of reality and it should be ripped out by the roots and set on fire.

They know that they are hurting people and wrecking minds and they don't care, because $$$.
Do you really think apple cares about you? Hint: apple cares about your wallet, that’s all.
