How do they have sales numbers for the 14 in June when the phones where released in September?
These aren’t sales numbers. The article is about display panel shipments which would start months before the products that use them hit the market. Also, as mentioned by the author, while this cannot be used to track actual phone sales, over a whole year, the ratio of panels produced to product sold should be similar across the product family.

That said, yes, it’s a coarse-grained / imperfect means to estimate products’ relative performance.

If anyone wants a Mini they need to buy the last generation (13) model. Maybe it ain't dead yet but I bet it will be in about 6 months time. It's likely the only phones that Apple will sell are the 15 series, iPhone 14, iPhone 13, and SE.

With the small battery inside the Mini they aren't going to last long. You'll need to pay for a battery replacement.

Apple is going to kill off the Mini and those who bought them will be replacing the battery every couple years. The Mini is going to need all the "Long live the iPhone Mini!" it can get.
I don’t think you know how batteries work

I think there's a certain level of confirmation bias when people say they think the mini is more popular. I'm certain Apple didn't arbitrarily just stop making it. I'd have moved a mini 15 as my next device but that doesn't seem to be a possibility now.

That’s because AT&T was practically giving them away for $5/month for 36 months up until recently.

Carrier give away or near give away prices with upper end plans are pretty common on all types of phones. In the past, for example, you could get a new 13 mini for "free" ($0/month, 24 monthly credits) from T-Mobile with a new Magenta MAX line.

People with bad sight, most people over 50, cant really use a mini while also using the biggest font. My mom has like 6 lines of huge text on her normal 14pro, in a mini it would be like 3 lines and infinity scrolling
Someone who requires extremely zoomed text might be better off with a larger screen, yes, but the mini with Display Zoom = Larger Text (“grandpa mode”) works very well for my aging eyes.

This isn't really surprising. Purely from personal experience, outside of the MacRumors comment section, I've never heard anyone say they prefer the Mini over larger phones. 😅

Big phones and big batteries are what everyone else likes these days ✌

I've met dozens of peoples with minis in real life (I've had both the 12 and the 13, we tend to notice each other) - every single one of them said they hated big phones.

The jeans companies certainly benefit from larger iPhones causing ripped pockets. I still like to see the smallest iPhone be 5.8” so middle between mini 5.8” and 6.1/6.2” sizes, that would likely be acceptable.

Sure, but customers could also benefit from the screen quality, and titanium case versus the aluminum cast of the present arrangement. Also the battery capacity of a possible 5.8" iPhone 15 model versus the mini's 5.4" would make that more desirable along with what I mention in the first sentence. I don't necessarily think you need two 6.7" iPhones irregardless of the $200 savings with build /parts quality. This older 2 aluminum and 2 titanium models is just odd, and less marketable IMHO. Between the mini and the iPhone Plus they show Apple can't fix it in the future that easy.
I'm not saying that people aren't benefiting from the premium features. Just that spending $1000 and not getting a premium phone is a harder sell than spending $1200 and getting a premium phone.

Also, the Pros use stainless steel, not titanium.

Thats a iPhone 15 rumored upgrade. Stainless steel replaced with titanium. Edited port to clarify/correct, thanks

Sounds like you don't know what the Internet is for, then!
Just because the Internet can be used as a tool for people to cry like babies non-stop for months over their precious Mini being discontinued, that doesn't mean it should be used for that purpose. 🙂

I tried to buy a 13 Mini in December at the TMobile store and the clerk said they don’t stock them anymore. So if anything, it’s entirely possible Apple makes them harder to get to encourage people to buy 14 and that’s exactly what i ended up doing.

Maybe T-Mobile isn't stocking minis because they weren't selling well for them. However, there seems to be plenty available at Apple Stores.

Honestly, I think the plus is very under rated. I personally hate the weight of the max, makes marks on my hand and too big for pocks or business dinners.. the pro is nice but a bit small, the plus IMO is perfect (except camera) lol
I’m starting to lean towards the iPhone 14 plus battery life and weight differences argument compared to much smaller lighter iPhone 13 mini vs heavier 14 pro max. Perhaps it is indeed underrated, but it does encompass the new Photonic Engine and Action mode steadies shaky handheld shots even if it’s the older 12MP optics. Also the 13 mini availability is becoming scarce.
