I still do not think that it will be a success unless there will be an away to avoid ads. On a small smartphone screen ads are already very annoying, but imagine ads on a device that covers your whole view. That is a nightmare.
You’re fabricating a problem that doesn’t exist. There is no mechanism for ads to cover your entire field of view.

That's actually kinda shocking, considering how well the device has been received by people and media.
I was expecting Apple to do everything in its power to actually increase production rate.

I think the following will happen:
Apple Vision Pro will launch in early 2024, with extremely limited availability.
Demand will by much higher than production.
Apple will then hurry to increase production rate.
Availability will meet demand in (maybe) 2026.

The logic I used is simple. I think there are more than 5 million people around the world that want the device, and if the production rate is 400'000 A YEAR, that means that by the end of 2024 perhaps only 800'000 headsets will be produced. And this is very optimistic.

ONLY - and I say only - if Apple will focus very hard on increase production, then maybe, MAYBE in 2024 will manage to hurry the various factories, and maybe by 2025 there will be a production increase that will cover maybe half of the demand. But this, imho, is still a very optimistic schedule.

The vision is definitely far ahead of the technology.

But fingers-crossed not far enough to cripple the Vision Pro. Although we already see it somewhat in the pricing.

In any case, if Apple can get through the production hurdles and bring this to scale, I'm sure we'll see rapid improvements with future iterations.

Absolutely. I'm sure Tim Cook will channel his inner John Wick to get this to the Stores!

I make a prediction:
Apple Vision Pro will be sold out within the first week.
Apple will temporarily say it's no more possible to buy it. At least for a while, like a few months or so.
All other countries' launch will be postponed into 2025 - if we're lucky.

If I had the money I'd do it. You can probably sell it for like 100k in 15/20 years or so. A hell of an investment!

I sincerely doubt current battery-technology is meant to sit idle for 20 years.

The original iPhone had much less sophisticated battery-cells with much less density and I have a feeling this is why they don't destroy themselves and the device after a couple of years sitting in a box.

I'd be more comfortable betting on the value of a handful of Krueger Rand coins - they at least don't have the deterioration- and self-destruction issues of any modern, battery-powered electronic device...

What will hurt Apple in my opinion is if they scrimp on some of the specs due to parts being difficult to make therefore making them expensive and time consuming to produce thereby having production numbers reduced. The 4K screens make it a must have device for those who are into VR but if the screens are very expensive and time consuming to make resulting in Apple putting in 720p or 1080p screens instead, this will annoy potential buyers in my opinion because they will be wanting the 4K screens.

The curved screen and 4K screens make Apple's headset different to the competition but if they change to a flat screen and 720p/1080p screens to save on cost and be able to produce more headsets, they will be no different to all the other VR headset makers out there.

- The price.
- The discomfort of prolonged use or the impossibility of prolonged use (battery).
- People having learnt to be wary of first-generation products.
- What's the killer application?
- companies and people will have no problems paying that amount for productivity and entertainment;
- since it's possible to use the device without battery (and thank god!), I see no issues here;
- people will manage to get their hands eyes on the product and decide that the benefits are well worth the risks;
- Productivity (much faster than using a computer with a mouse or trackpad), and entertainment. There are simply no match for these.

Same criticism repeated. Yada yada yada. Unaffordable, unnecessary, not portable, does not replace or enhance another product, stand alone money grab in a luxury tier, C-Suite doubts, manufacturing issues rumored consistently and frequently, nothing it can do another device can't do better and with a less self-centered use case, the price, and with a 2 hr battery life will mostly be relegated to couch use.....

where there's a TV right across from you. How about Apple make an actual 4K TV with HDR with AppleTV built right in? Could make two models, one in the same price tier and one at a lower tier, and would have an immediate need.

But what do I know? I am just an American consumer making above the media income who would be able to afford such things if they would sell them.

I wonder if they will sell developer units like they did for the arm mac mini. That could take a bite out of this number.
You're damn right!
I haven't thought about this. If Apple will give devs a sort of "right of way", then that alone will make supplies go short, and very few devices will be left for the remaining desperate 😂

Don't forget that this device is only going to be released in the US initially.

---

I personally think the inflation and devs not having the budget to invest so much money into a first gen product that may or may not work on a limit number of users might just kill it. Developing for that thing cannot be cheap. No users = devs not willing to invest. No apps = no user getting the device. It is a vicious cycle.

Happy to get corrected however ;)
Look at the developers dropping Watch apps like crazy. They’ve learned to avoid edge case software.

I think it's a super interesting device and I'm planning to buy one. However, I don't think they'll sell 150,000 units in the first year. I think they'll sell closer to 20,000. The $3,500 cost prices out 97% of Apple consumers and the lack of applications that make use of the headset will make it a hard sale for business use (this first gen unit specifically which lacks 3rd party apps).

No, they are not, they have units at Apple for developers to use and get help with testing their apps.

And this is why the price is high. These things are going to be sold out for a long, long time.

For which productivity tasks has it shown to be faster?
With a mouse or trackpad, you have to move the cursor. With Vision Pro you just look at things, and that's that. That's a super fast method of interaction, no matter what task you're doing on the computer.

3% of annual iPhone customers ALONE account for about 4 million people.

I believe that people that buy Apple products will have the money, apple is a luxury brand, and a lot of developers will make apps for the units this will explode. having six months to get your app ready has allowed more developers time to make new apps or prepare their apps for the vision pro, can't wait to see what developed. I have my Apple card ready and waiting for the vision pro to go on sale.

it's the video gaming system all over again, they will be on eBay for three times the price.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

If they're making 200k total for all of 2024, it'll sell out within the first day, maybe the first hour.

Remember that they won't have all 200k to sell on the first day. Maybe they'll have 30k to sell on the first day.

I'll believe it when I see somebody being efficient with Blender on a Vision Pro. Or even just typing a longer text!
