Well, I just read this entire thread from the start and am sorry I missed all the excitement. ;) I have seen reputation systems implemented on other Forms and usually it just turns into a big mess. I understand Arn was just playing with some settings, but if a system like this is ultimately implemented permanently for MacRumors, I hope it is done in an effective, sensible manner and well communicated to everyone.

I can agree with that.. I lurk on a site where clearly I am the most reputable poster..

Anyone know why I've been trademarking everything all of a sudden? Serious question. Must be the madness getting to me again...

That'd be nice. I'd also like to see something like "date registered" instead of post count which has worked well in other forums.

It stops idiots posting 24/7 just to gain an avatar.

Well, maybe a bit drastic. Anyway, OT. Mad Jew is just mad. He's seeing things.

No, actually the Mods stop idiots from doing that. We have an excellent team of Mods here who are on the ball and don't put up with that kind of crap. :cool:

Sorry, it's just that your comment regarding my dear cohort Lacero implied you knew nothing about her excellent "posting habits", and therefore your experience on MR must have been limited. :D

I use something similar that is only visible to moderators or administrators for "problematic" or "Totally awesome" users that the group can keep an eye on. With the selected icon, I can spot posts by "flagged" users to help gain or take away credibility, I also have specific icons show up for posters tend to post in more helpful forums, as opposed to "off topic". And lastly, if they end up posting many times per day (currently set at 25 posts), they will also get a special icon that looks like a SPAM brick :) .

It adds to the fun of being a moderator and administrator on that site :) . They also come in handy, but it took allot of coding in PHP (something I am quite bad at) :( .

And no, this isn't on my site, as our forums are quite dead. It is for a car site that I wish to remain anonymous as being a moderator / admin for :) .
