AppleInsider reports on new details from Apple resellers noting that lead times for reseller orders through Apple have begun to slip for a number of models. The changes are led by the Mac mini, which is now showing shipping windows of 2-3 weeks for both stock models of the desktop computer. Apple's constrained supply of Mac mini models has even reached its direct-to-consumer sales channel, with the low-end Mac mini slipping to 1-3 business day shipping yesterday and the high-end model following suit today.
As reports of a forthcoming hardware refreshes continue to mount, Apple has braced its certified resellers for unusually long shipping times of two to three weeks for both models of its minute Mac mini desktop systems.

Both the low-end, 120GB hard drive Mac mini and the top-tier 320GB model now have a wait time of two to three weeks. Typically, the hardware ships in one to three business days for non-custom orders, people familiar with the online Apple Store for Resellers told AppleInsider.
Lead times for reseller orders for Apple's iMac, MacBook, and MacBook Pro have reportedly also slipped slightly in recent days to 3-5 business days, up from normal shipping dates of 1-3 business days. Both the iMac and MacBook have been expected to see refreshed models in the near future, but there has been little speculation surrounding a MacBook Pro update of any sort.

I have a feeling this update will be something minor (i.e. spec bump) and all of the people here fantasizing about their new iMac or whatever will go haywire and we'll be flooded with angry posts.

Just like it always is

thats the same post WORD FOR WORD that you posted in a similar thread.

wow, you're a pessimist. We get it.

And your name is a car you can't afford. Double cool! We get it.

I don't want a new iMac. I NEED one. Please hurry, Apple.

Blu Ray and lower the price a little, please. That's all I'm asking.

Oh, and some sort of redesign. THANKS!

And you think you're cool because its "none of our business" to know what computers you have. We get it.

Word.

PS: HAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAH!

and I hate it when people double post (back to back). Sorry about that. I'm such a hypocrite.

I will be one of them.

It will be hard after the lackluster updates in March not to be disappointed if Apple doesn't bring something major to the table.

Having said that, I'm not expecting anything revolutionary this refresh. New chassis probably and some spec bumps but nothing ground shaking.

Speed bump or not, I'm putting off my upcoming purchase temporarily.

mac mini with blu ray please. i've been wanting to get a mac mini for a while to connect to my 52" LCD in the living room. adding blu ray would make it a no-brainer. i'll never leave my couch. :D

I'm always excited to hear about new Mac updates, even though I'm in no position to buy a new one anytime soon. Is that odd?

I think its going to be more than a speed bump.... they never would let the stock run low before hand.. But Who Knows.

hmm well i'm hoping for an all over update on the iMac... guess we'll find out whether it will happen or not soon

trouble is, and I think this is what Mass is referring to, the rumors are making this out to be something wild and revolutionary. thus when it is just a spec bump and a price drop, folks will be pissed off. how dare Apple not drop the chin, how dare they not change to a matte screen, how dare they not put in better speakers, how dare they not put in blu-ray drives and so on.

and even if they put one, how dare they not do all of them.

triple on boards like this where a lot of folks are of the mind that what they want is what should be without regard to the signs of Apple's business plan.

This is interesting. I think they will bump the specs of the iMac and the Mac mini. The iMac might see a design overhaul (get rid of the "chin") to make it go nicer with the 24" LED ACD (also height).

I don't know what they could do to the MBP lineup, since they recently rebranded, redesigned (slight) and bumped them specwise. I'm hoping it doesn't get updated since I just ordered a MBP to be delivered tomorrow

I know this is probably not going to happen, but a Core i7 Mac Mini with a Blu-ray drive and 4GB RAM standard for $799 would be an instant purchase.

I have been waiting to buy a Mini as I am very unhappy with it's currently underpowered and overpriced specs.

Knowing Apple though, we probably won't see Core i7 in any mac until maybe spring or summer of 2010. Apple just loves to milk every last drop from each processor generation before moving to the next.

They never have been in a rush to have the latest and greatest hardware in their consumer lines, and probably never will.

Nah, more than a speed-bump.

The very action of "announcing" longer delivery-dates on products will start the rumors, and Apple knows this well enough. In fact, they count on it! In about a week or so the sites will get invites to an "event", and new iMacs and Mac Minis with (probably) Clarksfield CPUs will be the focus of it.

Can you imagine though if Apple did everything being suggested? It would be quite humorous to see a quad core iMac with Blu-Ray, super sound system and matte display. Peoples heads would explode! :D

And if they update everything then people who just bought an iMac or Mac Mini will get pissed off !! LOL !!! Can't win!!! :D

PS: I love these forums. Even if I exclude all the valuable information I get from here just the entertainment value is incredible !!! I have turned into such a Mac/Apple junkie I refresh the MacRumors page every few minutes the whole day

DON'T open the box until you see what happens! That way, you can return it if they update the MBPs and if not, you can keep yours.

Honestly? I'm not a pessimist, it is very possible that this could be a major update. But it is always possible that it won't be, and if it isn't, that is exactly what will happen, angry posts.

Moreover, just because I can't afford a Maserati (because I'm 16 and don't have a job) does not mean it's in my name because I have one. I'm a fan of Maseratis and cars in general so I wanted to use that as my name.

Aren't just the MacBooks being updated in this refresh? I can't see the MacBook Pro's changing soon soon after the last refresh, unless it's really small speed/capacity bumps.

Just wanted to give some perspective on shipping times for the Macbook Pros. I ordered a new MBP last Friday. When I did that, it said estimated ship time is 1-3 business days. I got a notice of shipment on Tuesday. However, it is now Thursday afternoon, and when I check the status on Fed Ex.com it still says my computer is sitting at a Fed Ex facility in Shanghai. Who knows what is going on with their shipping, but I highly doubt that Fed Ex is going to meet their estimated delivery time of tomorrow seeing how my computer is still sitting in Shanghai.
