Because they're part of the same "family" they follow the same rules? Yes, I'd say that's a fair assumption, but you must remember the rules are: 1) don't upgrade more than once per year, and 2) see rule number 1.<wry grin>

The iPad 3 to iPad 4 upgrade was an exception, for one big reason: to reset the refresh cycle (to coincide with the iPhone release, and the holiday season so holiday iPad gifts, both full sized and mini, would not be perceived to be obsolete in a mere 3 months when a new version is released, rendering the product less valuable in the the minds of both the gift receiver and giver).

Excellent point.

am i the only one after the announcement of the nexus 10 to have zero interest in the new ipad? i was really considering getting one for the family but after seeing the nexus 10 i have lost all interest.

Yep, just you

Not really, I think most people who like Apple products prefer Apple's interface to Android.

I'm not knocking Android, it's nice and is pushing Apple hard which is great, but I think many like myself just prefer the Apple way.

my preference for tablet has been apple but i just havnt had the money. my 4 year old has a nexus 7 and i was looking to get a ipad3/4 for everyone to use but spec wise the nexus10 just blew me away. both are nice and early for christmas. now to find a place that will sell both in my tiny crap town for a real comparison

I have a Samsung Tab 2 7" and its not bad. The Nexus 10 does look nice and I do like the 32GB storage at a 16GB Apple price and no cellular option.

But I just can't get into Android. The Swiftkey keyboard replacement did help though- keep that in mind.

Still waiting for the Jelly Bean update- hope that will help.

Are there images of the Chinese distribution hubs used by Apple? Shipping to KY from China via Japan and Alaska is an interesting peek into modern logistics.

I work in logistics and yeah, some of the routing doesn't make sense at first glance but with a little more knowledge you start to understand.

Per-ordered my iPad 4 early on per-order day, still no shipping notification from Apple though they're saying it will be delivered on Friday. They better get on it if they expect it to make it up to Northern Michigan by then.

Most don't have notifications yet, but you can look it up on FedEx or UPS through your phone number or other reference.

If you need a retina display, get can already get an iPhone 5 or iPad 4.
they has an ipad 3 which is retina

Apparently FedEx has it, shipped from Middletown, PA. I figured it would have come direct from China.

Troll?

The Nexus has price going for it, but its still an inferior product to the iPad 4. Now if the iPad 3 was still around, the nexus 10 would have retina, be a bit faster and be cheaper.

Nexus still has android on it. Keep that in mind. FAIL.

With the excitement of the ipad mini, if the ipad mini gets to the new ipad specs could we see the original ipad retired?

first it was a genuine question. second how is it inferior to the 4? it has an a15 which should be a beast and faster then the a6. it has more ram. it has a bigger screen size yet is still thinner and lighter and still has a higher ppi and its 100$ cheaper. so again if your not invested in apple eco how is it inferior?

These are not likely the authorized resellers. Those would be keeping their mouths shut per contract
Yes, these are authorized resellers.

And yes, they're supposed to be keeping their mouths shut. But there are a lot of employees in the reseller network.

You can't really compare an iPad to an Nexus..... They are two completely different devices containing different specs :)

It's like comparing a PC to a MAC.

Two different devices that do different things for the people who buy them....

I'm not kidding. It's one of the reasons I hate these Apple vs Google vs Microsoft vs Commadore 64 debates.

It'll be very interesting when the Galaxy Nexus 10 is released..

Galaxy Nexus 10 - $399
2560x1600 Resolution (300ppi)
Cortex A15 Exynos 5250 1.7GHZ
T604 Graphics
2GB Memory

Disagree, they certainly are different devices, but the usage scenario is the same for the most part..

- Web Browsing
- Watching Movies
- Streaming Netflix
- Listening to Music
- E-mail
- Playing Games
- Reading Books

I think thats about what we expect from tablets today, and the Nexus certainly does that just as well as the iPad..

Even Mac OS & Windows are same in many ways, infact when you look at the bottom line they are used for the same usage scenarios, the only exception is some applications are not available on both platforms, but there are always alternatives..

Personally I think It makes perfect sense to compare a Nexus 7 to an iPad Mini, or the Microsoft Surface to an iPad 4..

specs specs specs its not all about specs. To be able to sync iMessage, apps, music ect, across my iPhone iPad and MacBook is huge. Specs are good but the ecosystem is way more important.
So it will not be that interesting until that actually get it.
