You don't know. EVERYBODY: STOP ACTING LIKE YOU KNOW.
NOBODY KNOWS A DAMN THING!!

Apple has their SH*T covered okay? RELAX... YOU WILL GET A PHONE I PROMISE

True enough, and neither do you. If you want a phone get there early, get there late and you are taking a chance. It's simply common sense, to me anyway. I'm sure that even those of you who are screaming the loudest about how you don't need to worry will breathe a huge sigh of relief when you get there and they still have a phone for you.

There is a healthy dose of anxiety about getting it, and I will feel much better when I know I have mine, but this is getting out of hand. Everyone's panicking

I think "panicking" is a bit of an overstatement. Get there early if you can just in case there are issues with stock. If you can't, then you will probably still be fine. Prepare for the worst if you can, that's all.

I think there are some major confusions about how the line and reservations are going to be handled.

1. mall lines and dedicated store lines will be handled differently. Depending on if the mall opens early enough or even lets people in at all at 7 or earlier. Flagship stores will have two lines.

2. I know this as a fact from an Apple Employee that "flagship" stores do get the most stock and will even leech stock from a nearby apple store just to maintain it's flagship appearance of having everything under control. It will most likely be able to fulfill all the reservations, they are also critiqued and held to higher and stricter standards than say, lower population mall sites. Mall sites/less busy stores tend to be more lax and will probably encounter some reservation/non reservation stock issues. But for the most part if you reserved at a flagship store (ie: like me, at one of the biggest stores in the US the Boylston St. location) you should be in good shape. Also, I know for a fact that people who reserve, at least in the case of the Boylston St. store, will be more likely taken cared of than those who didn't. It's harsh, but like I said, these flagship apple employees are held to a higher stricter code, and are more scrutinized to please the customers who reserved than to not. If you didn't reserve, and there's still a reserved line, you will be told to either wait, or come back at the end of the day or the next day.

3. However, although it says on your confirmation if you reserved that they will hold said product until closing time, that does not mean u should just waltz in all willy nilly at 10:45pm and expect after long and hard day to be handed a phone. Not saying you wont get it, but depending on how the day goes, it just might pay off to get it earlier than later.

I spoke to a rep at The Grove store in LA yesterday (a flagship) She said they'd have two lines and that if you made a reservation and you showed up before the end of the day, you would get your phone, no problem. Though I'm still going first thing anyway.

I REALLY think it's funny that the people that say the reservations will absolutely happen get bashed. The people that are putting that group down are saying that they don't know they will get a phone for sure and that it's this or that when really, NEITHER side knows ANYTHING, so stop talking about it and wait until Thursday. Get there as early as YOU think you should and whatever happens, happens.

I want to get this phone just as much as the next person. I will be going in early (with a reservation) and hoping that I have one held for me but do I know this for sure, no. Even if I do get one, I can't say for sure that I was guaranteed the phone, maybe I got lucky.

If I happen to not get one, I will wait until I am able to come back in and get one.

With all of that said, these threads are extremely entertaining!!!!!

Well as I said, I'm vacationing in CA. I have mine on reserve. I would be ticked it the store gave mine to a walk-in all because I didn't show up till 4pm when I get into town.
Being that the Apple store will no way in HELL not sell all the iphones in two days, I would see it as bad PR for them to sell reserved iphones to someone who walked in on the 24th. I would think it would be fair if the store didn't have enough iphones to do the following:

A) Find out the order the reserves was placed and put the name on the phones.
B) If it doesn't know the order of the reserves, the iphones should be given to those on the reserve list before ANY is given out to those that didn't reserve one.

That would save on irrate campers, and stop those who has no reserve from hanging out at the store all day.

then why would any1 reserve if u werent guaranteed, everyone would just pre-order in that case, there would be no point, am i correct?

Isn't reserve and pre-order the same thing in this case? On the 15th some of us reserved/pre-ordered the iphone to get it on the 24th.

Or are you talking about people who bought the iphone on the 15th and had it shipped to their house, vs the people of pre-ordered for pickup at the store?

yea, isnt it the same thing, i dont see a difference, if u werent guaranteed by reserving then just have it shipped, i didnt pre-order bc i have a giftcard and can use it only on a reserve
