Wasn't able to find any gold for verizon here in NYC but did find a 64 silver at grand central, so I decided to just place an order for that one and it went through. Waiting for the email that it's ready to pick up, but I'm gonna continue to monitor the website and see if any gold come in in the next week or so so I can exchange.

Why do people do this...Your just clogging the system for everyone else. FLip the situation around for a second and think if there are people buying gold in hope they can exchange for silver later. Just wait like everyone else. This really irks me.

Just stopped by at my local Apple Store in Walnut Creek, California, before they opened. The Apple guy who opened the door told me that they were no longer selling 5S phones in the store to walk-in customers, and that they were ONLY selling them via online reservation and in-store pickup.
Understandable due to the tight supply, but crazy nonetheless.

Well... since I'm pinging the Apple site every 15 minutes, part of me thinks that is good. But I would be mad beyond belief is there was an unclaimed phone, physically there, that they would not sell me.

Crazy indeed!

I do not think you can reserve pickup a att/verizon/sprint version of the phone from the website if you dont have an account.
Order a new line. We you are in store for pick up tell them you'd like to cancel the order and purchase the iPhone "device only."

Chinese Holiday

I can't believe there's no inventory on the stores anywhere in Southern California area. They said there's a Chinese Holiday this week? Is that why Apple returned the reserve online because we probably won't see any shipments this week anyways.:p

Cool. Will that work?

I was under the impression that once you complete the order online, you're charged for it and your contract is renewed.

In my opinion, this is how it should have been from them get go at all stores.

I've read posts of people doing this. They ask the salesperson to process it as a return. Once it's returned they buy it device only.

UPDATE: it's a little crazier than I thought. When the store opened at 10am, there was a line of about 20 people. Another Apple guy comes out and says that to get a 5S you either need to be there at 8am (before they open) to get a ticket, or do the online reservation.
That's just annoying...

Does anyone know if apple can get a shipment in at any time of day or just in the morning?

I've been checking online all morning in Houston for a 32gb silver AT&T for my wife and a 16gb Space grey Verizon for a friend with no hits what so ever for either but my friend was able to walk into an Apple store just then to get the 16gb Space Grey for Verizon so the online reservation does not seem to accurately reflect available stock.

So I just ordered a 32gb grey t-mobile 5s to pick up at one of the stores in Austin. I wanted to confirm whether my UK credit card would be accepted (I'm still aware that it may be declined however I believe now that the order is placed I can call the payment specialists and change my payment to a wire transfer or something else). As soon as I ordered it, I went back to the personal pickup availability menu and that model is now currently unavailable at that store. Just demonstrates that the online inventory is updated in real time.

The gold really seems to be absent from everywhere. Only reports I've heard of 5s availability since the pickup option went live again this morning are grey and silver. Any one seen any hint of gold in any combination on the pickup availability menu?

I want to buy a Verizon one full price. How do I do this using reservation? My girlfriend has Verizon plus an upgrade.

Should we just use the upgrade to reserve the phone, then when we get to Apple, tell them we want to pay device only....but wont the upgrade still be used?

That was fast...

I'm sorry, but I kind of find this hilarious since Silver is MUCH easier to find than the Gold. Seriously, is there anyone looking for a Gold in hopes of trading for the Silver later? Not likely.

Haven't seen a gold in any configuration anywhere near me (Virginia).

Just walked by Santa Monica store. They are still handing out tickets. Doesn't seem like they received today's delivery yet.

If they are handing out tickets it usually means those are the ones they currently have in stock so you should have stopped and not just walked by.
