Still not thrilled... might go ahead and return it anyways today.... but we shall see what the rest of the work day brings.

Be sure to let the battery drain all the way to 0% (power off) then charge it fully to 100%. This will help calibrate the battery meter. Hope it helps :)

Done that already.

After ~30 min safari use I'm down to 70% battery already. Just not right.

+1 this works... i was loosing 20% battery at night for no reason, now its 4%

sweet more POWER!

Ive restored mine and it still lost 10% last night, although Ive still to drain the battery and charge . I drain the battery 9 times out of 10 anyway, iphone and macbook.

Will post back results when ive managed to drain & charge

Any way to keep all my save files from games that I have purchased if I set it up as a new phone? I really do not want to lose all the progress I've made in games like Peggle.

Is that stuff stored server-side?

Well still dropping about 1% every minute while in safari.

Appointment setup to echange it today after work.

Are we saying that if we restore as a new phone (which would wipe out all of our data and info from the phone) and then restore from backup to place our info back on the phone would work?

If no, then are people restoring as new and manually adding everything back on to their phone (contacts, notes, photos, etc)?

Don't restore from backup - start afresh. If you've got your contacts, photos etc. backed up on you Mac then it should be pretty easy to get them back on your iPhone. At least it was for me :)

LMFAO

Appointment to return is at 5:30 this evening. Getting a new one with HOPEFULLY a good battery.

Same problem here, lost 20% overnight including 3g turned off. This was after i had restored and set phone as new. Have returned back to Apple and now have a replacement.

Will check battery life tomorrow morning

Those are the easy things to restore, but what about SMS messages? How do I deal with that? :)

UPDATE TIME:

My phone had a "big failure" according to the apple store guy.

Battery and all sorts of stuff was failing. They swapped me out a new one in about 20 minutes.

Away we go to try this one to see if I'll be keeping it or not.

well, since my restore and battery drain & charge. Ive dropped 2% with standby of 4 hours 23 minutes & 33 min usage.

Seems to be an improvement, will use it a bit more today and see how it goes

Ive got mobile me running push, 3g, and location services all on.

So after 2 hours usage and 4 hours standby I am down to 71% from 100. How do I gauge if this is normal?
Push email, 3G and location is all on. Bluetooth is off.

From the discussions on these forums, and my own personal experience.. if you leave WiFi on at night when you are sleeping you will see roughly 20% battery drop during standby of 8 hours. Apparently WiFi is persistent even when in standby.. always on. Turn if off before you go to sleep or are not using it and you should see a huge increase in battery life.

FYI guys, if you have location services turned on and see the arrow like icon in the upper right hand corner, means an app is actively using the gps and is a HUGE battery drain.

I don't think that's true. I tested last night. I left WiFi on and I lost 2% in around 8 hours. This puts me on track to do a bit better than Apple's claimed 300 hours of standby, and that's with WiFi on.
