So in looking at the comparisons on apple's site... Series 2 gets GPS and swim proofing.

All the other stuff (i.e. the new workout apps, apps in dock, etc...) we get via WatchOS3... right?

So I'm wondering (other than apps loading faster) why I need a new one? I don't run, walk or bike without my phone... Most all of my workouts are done in our home gym... so I kinda don't care about GPS, unless I'm missing something....

I get all the other niceties with OS3...

I do think my apps load REALLY SLOW...

battery life is the same (as in bad)

Am I missing something?

I don't think your missing anything really. It will have a faster processor so it will be faster but os3 took care of that. I thought for sure battery would be announced and better. Would have to see what is reported.

I could see getting the Nike Watch I suppose and just keep my existing for all daily wear.

I was all set to get a new one for daily use (work, out and about, etc). and use the old one around the house (well... like I do now with my gray vs pink).

But unlike phones where they always do something that TO ME justifies a yearly upgrade.... I'm not seeing it.

(And I guess with phones, I've never had 2 at once... whereas with the watches I bought the second one a few months ago.)

Plus, if I buy a new one... will I hate the old one (i'll still switch them out since i wear one to bed... i wear one all day while the other charges and then i wear the other to bed and to work out in the morning.)

I don't think you are you nailed it, I'm like you GPS isn't really something I need I usually run on treadmill at gym and I don't need it to swim I don't own an AW so I will go with the 299.00 can't justify another 100.00 for stuff I don't need. Wonder what the price of AW one will be now? 199.00 maybe, or 250.00 at most.

I think they said starting at $269 for series 1.

So the ones left in the store without the dual processors will have to go a lot cheaper!

I could sell one of mine, but would probably be lucky to get $150 for it! So that leaves $219 (plus tax and apple care) out of pocket for a new one..... I guess that's not so bad.....

Yea it was 269.00 but I think 42MM was 299.00 that's the size I want. I almost bought my neighbors last week for 250.00 glad I waited

Quick one - is it so that you can sync music from your iPhone to the watch and then play the music from the watch on wireless earplugs without carrying the phone with you?

If so, also from Spotify and other 3rd party apps?

iPhone and :apple:Watch even only a couple of hours after the Kool-Aid are rather Meh.

I'm not nearly as Meh on the phone as I am the watch... I like the idea of the dual camera... I'm a picture/video hoarder so I need more storage! And I want PINK! (didn't get pink last year because all the pictures looked more orange than pink... so ya... I missed out a year on a pink phone!)

If he doesn't drop his price... you're better off spending the extra $50 for brand new and faster since even the series 1's being sold will have the dual processors as compared to our originals!! Plus you can add apple care to a new one.

I think with the Watch Apple is still in the "let's get people to buy their first one" mode and is not thinking so much about upgrades. The waterproofing and the S2 are nice. Between that and watchOS 3 it looks a lot like what people were expecting the first time around.

I love my original Watch. Nothing really new or exciting in the new one. GPS? Meh. I also work out at the gym, so it's not necessary. I'm sticking with what I have.

Incidentally, I'm sticking with my 6S, too.

I could use the GPS for cycling but not a complete deal maker for me to not have it. Phone disappointed me a lot. Though moreso due to the cost of an unlocked device which I kind of need for travel time in US so I can use my AT&T plan down there.

I'm not really big on swimming. The added waterproof part is nice but again not a deal maker.

Same on the Nike versions. I don't run due to bad knees. Some of them look cool but I don't want all the Nike BS that I won't use.

It's a good idea to hold off on a purchase of an Apple Watch I think. Unlike the iPhone, the Watch has had multiple discounts since it was released. You could probably snag a better deal if you're not in a hurry.

What I got:

iPhone - Wider gamut screen, Wider gamut camera. Jet black color (dope), but no one will have it because they made exempt form entry level storage tier.

:apple:Watch - Brighter screen (awesome!), GPS (good), thicker (dafu-q)

Considering those are my lasting appeals, not feeling the juice too much right now. Was planning on waiting for the next iPhone, makes me glad to see they upped the screen gamut because now I know it's an included upgrade for next years iPhone, and I can hopefully expect a bump in resolution since they didn't include that this year ;)

Undecided about :apple:Watch.

The new watch has GPS, which so many people said was a 'must'. I really don't know why.

For me, I don't care about that. My Watch 1 is perfectly fine. Watch OS 3 makes it so much better, and I'm sticking with my Watch 1 for the next year or so.

I do think my apps load REALLY SLOW...

Watch OS 3 fixes that, even on the Watch 1.

Apple says they 'overcompensated' for battery life vs. fast loading apps. Watch OS 3 fixes this.

I'm not meh. I am a proud early adopter of almost every phone, iPad, iPod, and of course the watch, and I have never regretted it! Can't wait to jump in the pool with the new one on... LOL.

My dilemma is SS or ceramic? Wish I could see what all my current bands look like with ceramic.

My main reason to upgrade if I decide to is waterproofing. I don't really swim, but with my job never know if I might end up in water.

Also not gonna upgrade the iPhone for the first time since they came out.

I have no strong desire to upgrade for all the reasons you stated. I'm much more excited about the performance and interface improvements in Watch OS3. I don't need GPS in the watch because I always have my iPhone with me on bike rides and hikes. Don't need better waterproofing either. Now the brighter display would be nice to have, but not a must-have for me.

I would much rather upgrade my iPhone 6 to the iPhone 7 Plus!

Since I pay for five iPhones and one is always up for replacement. I plan to get the Jet Black 7 Plus with 128g and then one of the kids gets my 6s Plus. :)

I'm pretty sure I will order a 42mm Nike for October delivery. I will use that one all exercise and golf and yard work/chores and keep my 42mm SS for all work and other times.

I'm not sure what you're asking?

1. If I have Spotify on my 6S and get the new Watch. Can I sync music onto the watch and wear only the watch and wireless earbuds while running - listening to playlists from Spotify - while tracking my run?

I don't think you can use spotify because it needs an internet connection, but you can put MP3's onto the storage of your apple watch and listen via bluetooth headphones, while tracking your run.

Unless you were taking your phone with you during the run, then you could listen to spotify by synching your headphones to your phone, and then independently tracking the run with your watch.

I'm definitly liking some of the additions to the AW2, but for how I use the watch, do I really need dual core?
The brighter display is a nice to have, and the GPS is a great addition, though I'm concerned about battery longevity, i.e., if I run a 1/2 marathon, will the watch last long enough? Or if I hike for 8 to 12 hours, will it give out before I'm done?

Get the Jet black for me, that thing looks slick!

I really like the matte black as well! Sadly I will need to wait a while before I can afford to upgrade. When I got the iPhone 6 I decided against the 6+ because the 6 fits more easily in a pant pocket or small jacket pocket. Once I got the Apple Watch I no longer needed my iPhone to be as quickly accessible, so it spends much of its time in my bag or backpack... in a pocket that could easily accommodate the larger 7+.

I also really want the dual camera lenses. One of my passions is photography. While my high-end cameras and lenses are still going to provide better image quality and a more responsive shooting experience, I do end up taking quite a few photos and videos with my iPhone (the best camera is the one you have with you). In good light the iPhone 6 is already quite nice, but the iPhone 7+ appears to be a big upgrade in terms of features and image quality.

I was completely expecting 2 to be what 1 should have been. almost like every other 1st gen product they come out with, iPhone being one of them.

I was going to stick with the 6S but a free 32gb or $100(i think) to upgrade to 128gb (which I want anyway for the jet black) isn't that big a deal. I love TMobile. As far as the watch goes, there really isn't anything ground breaking by any means but I told my wife that if I used the first gen enough that I would spend real money on the second generation getting the black SS with link (and the link will be used for many generations to come as I will just buy the newest black SS case with sport band and get my link polished for the newest gen) and I have worn my first gen every day since it came out even when camping and everything else like snowboarding or working in the yard.

I'm not meh. I am a proud early adopter of almost every phone, iPad, iPod, and of course the watch, and I have never regretted it! Can't wait to jump in the pool with the new one on... LOL.

Go with SS dude and get the link. I want the ceramic so bad but why pair a $1300 watch with a $30 sports band. They should have created a ceramic link to go with it or at least included the black link with it which I think would look amazing. So I am just getting a black SS link this year from my black sport last generation and next generation I will by the "edition" if it is as nice as the ceramic and just use my black link to go with it.
