Exactly, the latest beta has done nothing to improve OS animations. It's just that you had to reboot and that temporarily solves the issue. Give it some time and it comes back though.

I'd love to know why some of us have no issues with Mission Control. Uptime tells me my 5K iMac (i7/295) hasn't been rebooted in over a week now. No issues with Mission Control.

I'm starting to fear for people on the M290X GPU. The GPU upgrade is definitely a must have.

I stand by my buttery smooth comment on the M295X. At least when there aren't 12 Safari windows open.

Rebooting had never even temporarily solved the issue with 10.10.0 or 10.10.1 for me, and believe me I tried!

On another note, 10.10.2 beta is unusable, I'm reverting back to 10.10.1 now

I returned the 290X because of juddery transitions and re-ordered with the 295X which is significantly better. Haven't noticed any juddering at all.

I have a base model 27" riMac. Clean install.

Mission control and Launchpad are not smooth. Neither is

Problem is, this is my first mac, and I am not sure how they are supposed to be running. Things generally lag when re-sizing. Would the 295x fix the problem?

However, the unit is constantly silent (even when gaming), and all other functions are super fast.

Yes with m290x this is current behavior, m295x is much better ( still gets laggy after 12+ safari windows ), runs a little warmer, but much safer choice for long run. However as has been mentioned in this thread before, if you can live without Yosemite UI transparency. ( i.e. System Preferences > Accessibility > Improve Contrast > On ) base system has no issues, once I got used to it I've turned this on for all my macs. Almost no lag with however many windows you have open even with higher HiDPI modes ( looks like 3200x1800 is my default ).

For me I usually have so many windows open that even the m295x lagged quite a bit. Personally now I like the setting better anyway as I really scale all my retina displays for the most resolution and the higher contract modes makes it easier on my eyes.

Last note, I was assured by apple engineers that this is a software issue and they were well aware of it. However they provided no time on fix. Hope this helps.

Just read that Safari 8.0.2 is out, supposedly fixing Safari WebGL performance problems on Retina displays. Looking forward to testing this on my rMBP and on one or two hapless Retina iMacs soon.

No changes on safari 8.0.2 same same.... I believe more and more that it is a GPU issue. I should have bought the 295X version.

I really hope not. I had a lengthy tech support session that ended after I sent my data to Apple and the engineers supposedly looked at the issue and said it's software related and would be fixed with an update because it appears to be related to some Photoshop issues as well. This was during my 14-day window, but that's long gone now. If it is/was the 290 I was going to either get a 2013 or go all-in with the i7 and 295. Everything else seems great, but the display issues had me concerned because of how much time I spend in Photoshop.

I have the i7 and 16GB RAM version but decided on the 290 GPU which was clearly a mistake.

I followed the advise of increasing contrast and once this is selected the system is much smoother - so not sure if the apple engineer can fix this via a software update because this is for me more related to not enough power.

We should sue apple for releasing a configuration which doesn't run as advertised.

My system runs the latest 10.10.2 beta (14C78c)

I think it's a bit better now, but still not good enough. To be honest it doesn't really bother me. It's not as if Mission Control doesn't work, it is just not as smooth as I would like it to be.
I wanted to post a link to a mov file on Dropbox, but there seems to be a problem with the forum's software and it replaces my URL, thus making the link not work..

rMBP Safari 8.0.2

On my rMBP Mission Control seems quite a bit smoother now after the update to Safari 8.0.2 – with Handbrake using all CPU, fans at full blast, and Apple's problematic Retina iMac page in Safari open in full-page mode, it seems smooth enough.

Does anyone have this corruption issue in Mission Control only? I see it always on iTunes and Transmit app, but not really on other apps. Apple cannot duplicate and I was wondering if anyone else was experiencing this?

Sweet, I hope they fix it soon. I want the transparency back. I showed my toy to my old school father, and he wasn't impressed. I think the transparencies would've clinched the deal lol.

i5, 16GB RAM, fusion drive disabled (128gb SSD + 1T HDD), M290X and clean install from USB 10.10.1

Not a single problem, no lag no nothing. I really don't no what you guys are talking about? Laggy and choppy?? Transparency is ON.

I dont use safari, so maybe it's safari thing...

Yes genius, it's obviously related to Safari plus X.

I just installed the latest preview beta for 10.10.2 that came out today and mission control seems quicker. I've had a multiple programs open for a while now and it has not slowed down. It's still not as fast as I would like with my base video card but it's getting close.
