Scratch my last post, mission control is garbage again![]()
Exactly, the latest beta has done nothing to improve OS animations. It's just that you had to reboot and that temporarily solves the issue. Give it some time and it comes back though.
I'd love to know why some of us have no issues with Mission Control. Uptime tells me my 5K iMac (i7/295) hasn't been rebooted in over a week now. No issues with Mission Control.

I'm starting to fear for people on the M290X GPU. The GPU upgrade is definitely a must have.
I stand by my buttery smooth comment on the M295X. At least when there aren't 12 Safari windows open.
I have a base model 27" riMac. Clean install.
Mission control and Launchpad are not smooth. Neither is
Problem is, this is my first mac, and I am not sure how they are supposed to be running. Things generally lag when re-sizing. Would the 295x fix the problem?
However, the unit is constantly silent (even when gaming), and all other functions are super fast.
Just read that Safari 8.0.2 is out, supposedly fixing Safari WebGL performance problems on Retina displays. Looking forward to testing this on my rMBP and on one or two hapless Retina iMacs soon.
No changes on safari 8.0.2 same same.... I believe more and more that it is a GPU issue. I should have bought the 295X version.
I really hope not. I had a lengthy tech support session that ended after I sent my data to Apple and the engineers supposedly looked at the issue and said it's software related and would be fixed with an update because it appears to be related to some Photoshop issues as well. This was during my 14-day window, but that's long gone now. If it is/was the 290 I was going to either get a 2013 or go all-in with the i7 and 295. Everything else seems great, but the display issues had me concerned because of how much time I spend in Photoshop.
Yes with m290x this is current behavior, m295x is much better ( still gets laggy after 12+ safari windows ), runs a little warmer, but much safer choice for long run. However as has been mentioned in this thread before, if you can live without Yosemite UI transparency. ( i.e. System Preferences > Accessibility > Improve Contrast > On ) base system has no issues, once I got used to it I've turned this on for all my macs. Almost no lag with however many windows you have open even with higher HiDPI modes ( looks like 3200x1800 is my default ).
For me I usually have so many windows open that even the m295x lagged quite a bit. Personally now I like the setting better anyway as I really scale all my retina displays for the most resolution and the higher contract modes makes it easier on my eyes.
Last note, I was assured by apple engineers that this is a software issue and they were well aware of it. However they provided no time on fix. Hope this helps.
Any changes in the new beta of 10.10.2 ?
i5, 16GB RAM, fusion drive disabled (128gb SSD + 1T HDD), M290X and clean install from USB 10.10.1
Not a single problem, no lag no nothing. I really don't no what you guys are talking about? Laggy and choppy?? Transparency is ON.
I dont use safari, so maybe it's safari thing...
