Do not forgot that haswell inner GPU and 650 m nvidia has quite same fps

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPrAKm7WtRk&feature=youtube_gdata_player

So how is a realistic fps Max out 2880 on gw2 should I ll wait for in June? Up to 20?25?

I hate to tell you this, but it won't be June, or anywhere close. The word is there are comparability issues between the Haswell chip and USB 3.0. It is being said that they will release only a few in July or August, and it will not be fixed. Then when they get a new wave of Haswell chips, that theoretically have been fixed, then they will have a mass release. Probably October or November. This is the new talk

Source please I won t to believe:mad:

that rumour came out last week, i dont know where it surfaced, but there has been 2 versions of it already, the cpu is at fault (which is clearly wrong, with the notable exception of the SoCs) or that the chipset (dont mention which one) is at fault (which makes sense on most cases)

OK now with hands data we have:

8870m 992 gflops (on Samsung 7 chronos)
8850m 800-992 gflop
Nvidia 750m 742 gflop (revealed 3days ago)

Nvidia 650m 564 gflop ( actually on rmbp)

I clearly say if apple won't switch on amd side in next refresh scheduled I won t buy it and I ll buy a chronos at the end of the summer.

Good God, let's hope they DON'T switch to AMD. Yikes.

Do u prefer a slightly 30% performance increase (750m no matter if nvida says on any game it can reach 50% such as crysis2. Spec speeches clearly) rather then 75% boost (8850m or 8870m) at the same tdp as Samsung is succeed to give in an ultra book ? This point is related considering only GPU.

If u like a 2000$ notebook that is not the top at the same price (or something low) I can take the best

But if u like knock yourself out

you know the 750m should be around 10-20% less in performance to the 8870m, specially with the tranny gpu boost 2.0

If you care about it, why don't you go buy and "enjoy" the UltraBook? It has everything you apparently need, so why spend time on an Apple forum?

My Troll-O-Meter just went crazy when I entered this thread.

Cause there is a thing that only apple has on his macbook:the retina display manufactered Samsung.

The 3k resolution gives the best game experience u can have now. But if u can t decently play at least with the same hardware that other companies set on they best horses, no sense buy rmbp in this scenario

AMD has horrible drivers... even to this day. I still shudder when I think back on how much trouble I had to go through with AMD with my 2011 MBP.

I don't think I'd like to see another AMD GPU on my work machine for a long while.

The notebook's divrers are finalised by each company that set on their notebook.
Is not as desktops side when new drivers are given for all cards.
When new catalyst or nvidia drivers hits they pass to company (apple in this case) that should release new drivers based on that release for his specific machine

Every problem you had had, you can only blame apple for that not ati-amd ;)

AMEN to that. I find it amusing how it took AMD about 8 months to develop a driver for the High end 7000 Series, to completely get it's full potential out of it. And then all the AMD fanboys gobbled it up like it was a miracle driver that enabled to get that much more out of it. It was getting more out of it, it was getting what was sold to you finally. I dropped my ATI cards in my Desktop, went back to NV and couldn't be happier. AMD need to get the driver situation fixed and they would be a real contender. Price to performance, AMD usually takes that crown and no one can take that away from AMD. Hell if AMD didn't keep cards cheap, NV would be leasing GPU at some ridiculous price.

I talk about gflop tested and released in data sheet and you answer me with "should be"
Ps3 has 200 GFLOPS
Ps4 should be 1800..the 680 gtx is 3000 gflop.
The 992 gflops 8870m "should be" more that 742 gflop of 750m and if u consider that this value is 31% increase and nvidia says that on specific game it can reach 50% compared to 650m (crysis2,) u can got it that the boost 2.0 is almost 19% ..the total is around under 25% performance given with 8850m 8870m

I don't know, I think all of this is wasted breath. Apple's focus has never been on gaming, and never on Windows (the premier gaming platform). I don't see this all of a sudden changing this year.

I.e. why on earth are you talking gflops when Apple has never really cared about this?

You may be pinning your hopes on the fact that Blizzard demoed D3 during the rMBP announcement, but other than that I don't think you're magically going to get an AAA Apple gaming laptop this year. In any case I would guess between the 750M and 8850M would be reasonable, whichever is more power efficient.

Next rMbp with haswell HD 5000 or 4600 or 5200 whatever and with a Gt 730M will be the most powerfull laptop, i think even than next alienware refresh

you talk about gflop as performance metric for games, it matters, but not that much. Otherwise the 7970 shouldve been the best card in the market period, and it isnt.

I dont care what nvidia says, they are actually going back to what intel did on P4 days, get an average tdp and call that a day, oh if you want the true performance of the gpu, you need the max tdp (read gpu boost 2.0), otherwise you dont get it. Given that I have numbers of a 650m in similar clocks to a 750m (difference is 15mhz on the core) and it performs around 27% better in gpu benchies, I guess its going to close the gap in performance to the 8870m.

Its simple, you can get more power with amd, you can get back some video pros and other computational heavy pros with amd.

I for one hope that they chose the 8870m

It's not suddenly changing. In the 2010 MBP, the NVIDIA 330M had a TDP of 23W.
In the 2011 MBP, the AMD 6750M-6770M has a TDP in the 35-40W range.
Now, in the 2012 MBP, the 650M has a TDP of 45W, but is factory overclocked to 660M levels so is probably more like 50W.

I'm not saying that Apple's only focus is gaming (which is clearly not true), but it obviously is at least one of Apple's targeted areas. If it wasn't, the 15" MBPs would probably have a severely underclocked NVIDIA 630M in them.

None of those cards you mentioned are considered top tier performance cards. Which is what my point was. It would be nice to have a Titan in a MBP though. I'm looking forward to Maxwell as well.

Im not saying changing but surely they have kept themselves in the mainstream area. There is such a gap in performance of higher end parts, that to consider this 650m anything else from mainstream is absurd.

So the point is apple = mainstream performance, nothing more nothing less

If u haven t get it I help u. I m no a mother tongue I m Italian ;)
My standpoint is I can speak even in010011 just understand each other.

I really hope they will put on next rmbp something more of a simple mainstream hardware. I don't want repeat myself but chronos marked Samsung is a perfect example of balance between power and tdp.user can choose performance or battery economy

the problem is that that thing throttles, while still the cpu and the gpu are still in the 80c range, the problem is lack of power provided, dont know whos the engineer that gets to decide those things, put it should be put to the gallows
