Best machines either the wife or I have owned. Can't wait to slap a refreshed ATD on it for desktop use.

I've got the current ATD/TBD and don't see the need to wait for the refresh. What'd be better about it? When is it coming? I use it as my desktop and laptop. Love the machine. Totally happy with it!

I currently have the TBD as well and stil have 30 days left in my return period (60 day returns through Best Buy Premier Silver). I am hoping for a refresh as well, but mostly for USB 3 ports. I doubt there will be a retina refresh or anything majorly different.

Had mine for over a month and have loved it the entire time.

No issues at all with any of the reported possible issues.

Samsung Screen,Samsung SSD, no case creaking or anything, this machine is a beast and runs like a dream.

Best notebook computer on the market hands down. Some may outspec it in some degrees but the screen in unbeatable. My partner has an Asus G75 with nearly identical specs but my retina runs circles around it due to the SSD speed and the screen is miles ahead in sharpness and color.

Kind of. It lags quite a bit, and the battery life is inconsistent. ALso, the screen gets covered in oil from the keyboard, which is pretty annoying and leaves it looking dirty all the time.

It is unparalleled, but... tbh... it's a bit meh.

I am very happy with my rMBP. There are only 2 major apps that I am awaiting retina updates for and then I will be golden.

I checked out the retina model today and really noticed how clear and sharp it is. Then I walked to look at cmbp and can see texts not as sharp. Either way I can't wait to get my first MacBook.

Love my rMBP!

Hi got my rMBP about 2 weeks ago. So far, I love it. Very snappy and super fast in launching apps and any read/write heavy operation. Photoshop completely loads in 1 bounce! Almost never see the beach ball anymore. Parallels partition is super fast TOO, it's truely like having a dedicated PC inside my Mac.

Only have 1 issue:
1) No Kensington lock hole was a major bummer because I travel and work in lots of hotels and have my laptop sitting in hotel ballrooms for days and hours at a time. BUT after some searching I did find a very good solution to my problem. The Griffin TechSafe Cable Locking System for Laptops did the trick and in an ingenious way.

Otherwise I love the Retina. If you don't want to spend that kind of cash, get an SSD drive. Performance boost will blow your mind!

4 months w/ mine. Went through many repairs and exchanges. But at the end of the day, I don't regret the handsome amount of money that was withdrawn from my bank account. :) I honestly don't think I will be buying any other laptops other than mac. I'm hopeful that the incoming Haswell refresh will mitigate gui stutters. There's still good amount of work to be done to run things at constant 60fps especially at 1200p. But it's the first of its kind, so it's to be expected.

How are you getting keyboard oil on the screen? I find I have to clean this screen less than any laptop I've owned.

To the OP, I love the rMBP. It's my first Mac and I'm glad I jumped. When the Apple designer said that this is the best computer they've ever built -- I agree completely.

Just from getting squished in my backpack.

My rMBP 15 has been my best mac ever. Initially was laggy, but ML fixed most of it. Least fatiguing laptop screen I've ever used.

Don't all retina macbook pros have samsung drives?

No. The NAND components that comprise the SSD storage in Retina MacBook Pros are sourced from Toshiba, Samsung and, more recently, SanDisk. Amoung these is Samsung's PM830. All are custom built for Apple and are electronically identified as "Apple SSD SMxxxx". In August of 2012 OWC announced the availability of OWC upgrade SSDs, the first third party to announce MPBr compatible SSDs..

You do understand that these are not "drives" in the traditional sense, yes? SSDs used in MBPr laptops are built on a single daughter card with an edge connector.

You might find this AnandTech article of interest.

A friend of mine has 15" rMBP, performance is great but the screen is too fragile, the LCD panel is not covered with additional layer of glass like on a cMBP to lessen glare effect and weight, but because of that, it dents easily, even just a small dust particle on a keyboard can leave indentation on the screen causing white pixels! This is what happened to my friend and thats what we were told as an explanation at the certified Apple service!!! They even recommended to wait till next gen retina MBP which might have this issue sorted out, so I will be holding on to my cMBP and a friend of mine meanwhile will have to be very careful with his screen :)

1st retina had a defective screen: faint vertical line just off centre all the way down the screen (not noticeable unless you're on certain background colours). And as i deal with images/editing it wasnt realistic to live with.

Returned it,

2nd (burn-in tested while in store), immediately noticed faint blocks on screen

Returned it to a rather unhelpful sales assistant who said something along the lines of, "we wont keep opening macs for you since they're tested to apple standards". Excuse me if I'm not prepared to pay well over a grand for a defective product.. FYI: Was a tall guy at the *Cardiff, St Davids* store in Wales, ALL other assistants I spoke to were a GREAT help, particularly the very first guy I'd spoken with on the original purchase. But I was p*ssed with having that answer back (wish I'd taken note of his name).. Especially since I was still in the 14 day return window..

I repeated my request for a new one and he obliged a few minutes later. Thankfully this one turned out to be perfect in every way, it really is perfect. VERY happy with the rMBP, and also with the service of the other staff there. Couldve been better though.

Absolutely!!! Although I wasn't very happy when I had to deal with all the ghosting issues with the screen last year. Now I'm waiting for the new Haswell MacBook Pro and I have used MacBook Air, iMac and old MacBook Pro.

I'm proud to say that this is the best laptop and the best MacBook Apple have ever made!! :apple:

Me; I am very happy with my 2012. I've had none of the issue mentioned on other treads. I sometime think that if this forum did not exist people would be much happier with there machines. For example most people would never notice screen lag? That being said I am a happy camper and besides 2013 is a unlucky number.

WARNING!!

The day after I bought my rMBP, I experienced severe erectile disfunction.
My doctor said it has something to do with the retina's screen connection and possibly Bluetooth 4.0.

For the love of god man......it is cursed, don't buy one!!

Is there someone there who miss it, besides you, I mean?

One year and something months later... YES.
I think this will be the first time I won't be upgrading every year.
I love my mid 2012 Retina and will just upgrade my OSX. :D

I did get a small scratch on the side of it, can barely see it... but that's about it. :D

I picked up my first Mac / 13" rMBP just over a week ago. i use it for web development, occassional PS work and other general usage but wanted something very portable and well built, but still with some decent grunt. It's faultless, by far the best the laptop i have ever had! :D

I find my retina 13 inch screen in two ways different than other laptops. The reds are really strong and the skin tones look more orange - the screen is brighter in my opinion than other laptops. Does anybody have the same issues?
