Especially when it's members from MacRumors. We have a buyers guide FFS! :D

To be honest that's exactly why I waited alittle longer. You don't know what Apple has in store but a new OS was bound to come shortly. Even early 2011 isn't really a long wait.

Let's hope they decide to stream next Wednesday!

Yes, we have a buyers guide and everyday there are atleast 3-4 threads asking if a new mbp is coming in october or within the next month...quite sad.

So based on this:http://news.cnet.com/8301-31021_3-20019463-260.html
When would new Mbp be abailabe after announcing them? I bought a mbp 6 days ago and I wanna know if I should return it for the new line of mbp.
What's apples return policy?
On previos announcements, how long does it take for their new products to hit shelves
There's no way to obtain any accurate answers to your questions. Period.

Apple is highly secretive for good reason, and even once the event happens, there is still no assurance of when the new product will be available.

Then once it is, you could end up being a victim of a poor design like the iPhone 4.

That's exactly what happened to me, I trusted Apple and pre-ordered an iPhone 4.

Two days later I had a guy offer me a lot of money for my perfect iPhone 3Gs so I sold it. Once my iPhone 4 arrived we all found out about the antenna issue.

To make a very long story short, months later I'm on my fourth iPhone 4, all replaced by Apple in an effort to get one that will make and hold a phone call.

If you are prepared to go through the same bad experience then do so.

Personally, I would get what you want now. Use it, enjoy it, and then watch to see what the new ones are like.

good points, if they do announce a new one, i'll gladly take the price adjustment back in my pocket.

i bought my macbook pro 13'' on the 4th october...
i returned back it today with no restocking fee :) .. in italy we have 14 day without fee also if the mac is opened..
now i wait till the back to mac event and then i will buy again my macbook pro! i hope a new 13'' with i3 or i5 :)
if nothing changes in the 13'' macbook pro line i will buy again it with C2D but for sure i will get iLife 11 inside ;) and at the same price :apple:

maybe just OSX lion and a new air

i think this too.

there is not much more apple can add to a MBP at the moment.
the intel i3/5/7 are pretty much the best consumer processor at the moment.

I think we will see a new OS and maybe a MBA with i3. And a slightly different design. black screen surround, and maybe option for a HR display?

i know it may seem strange, but i hope the next update for MBP is scheduled for January. Updating now the MBP with small improvements here and there (slightly better cpu or whatever) will force us to wait for Sandy Bridge at least until June to respect the time frame of 8 months between updates.

ciao!

If anything is going to get updated, I'd say the MBA would be, then maybe the 13" MBP, even that might be a stretch. What I won't expect by any stretch of the imagination is to see the 15" MBP updated.

To go along with the crowd, my bet is on Lion announcement and a new MBA (those folks haven't had some TLC in a loooong time so I'm happy for them).

That being said, a new MPB with some kickin' updates would be welcomed for Xmas though. I've been a real good boy this year and Santa could reward me with a new MBP...

I am looking forward to the event though!

Cheers,
-P

If there is going to be a hardware change in the MBp then I assume this would only affect brand new products?

Im wanting to buy a refurbished unit so not sure if it would be worth waiting or not?

The rumor right now is:

New Macbook Air
New MAC OS X "Lion"
New iLife11
*Maybe* minor refresh of Macbook Pro line (using the newest Arrandale processors from Intel = minor speed bump ~5%-10%)

Either case, it's exciting just to know that Apple hasn't forgotten the Mac in an ocean of iOS devices and is still commited to the computer industry.

People like you are the reason it is so hard to return anything, you buy something because you are dumb and impatient then you hear the newest and greatest *MIGHT* be coming out so you just return it after you played with it and everything else so you can get the new items...but people with real problems in countries that don't have this 14 day ************ have to live with the problems or the purchase they made.

It wouldn't surprise me if apple dropped built in optical drives in all their notebooks with this refresh, could make room for some beefier internals or an ssd+hard drive option.

I just hope the next version of Mac OS (Lion) is non-hackintoshable. :p

yeah definitely.

Wait, what? Why? The hackintosh scene poses isn't that big of a deal unless idiots like Psystar get involved. Even with the recent advancements (more compatible hardware/chipsets/vanilla kernels etc) lots of people do it just to see how OS X is and then some finally move over to get the hardware side of it. It's how I got my start, back when it involved a fair amount of elbow grease to get working.
