Great that you are board and looked up my time here and number of messages but I still think this thread was useless.

It honestly irks the hell out of me how many people are buying the Air KNOWING they don't actually want it/it won't work for their personal use cases, and will inevitably end up returning it...

Why would you (or anyone) buy a phone with a 6.55" display, LARGER than the Max displays of yesteryears (XS and 11 Pro Max), if you don't like bigger phones?!

I wonder if JerryRigEverything takes advantage of the 14-day no questions asked return policy...

It's not like people KNOW it won't work for them.

All the iPhones are big now. I was hoping the thinner form factor and lighter weight would make it easier to use.

Besides, the older XS Max was 77.4mm wide. The Air is 74.7mm wide which doesn't look much different than 71.5mm on paper. Alas, in-hand was quite a different matter to my dismay.

If only the screen size and features could have been known before buying. They should have stores where people can go in and look at real iPhones before they buy. Or if they don’t live near a store maybe some websites could publish specs, reviews and videos.
Most all of the specs (including screen size) are widely publicized prior to general availability.

Even better, wait a few weeks after the availability. You will then have the benefit of literally thousands of early users opinions and the ability to play with them yourself in the Apple (and other) stores. There are no advantages to getting the first one - and perhaps many downsides.

So many air's on Facebook market place here after 4 days, $1-250AUD off retail, never seen that after a new iPhone release.
If bought from retailers here not apple, no return once opened unless a dud.

Guess people are sucked in by the thinness then relise not worth the trade off.

But how many people are really buying the Air, knowing that they don't really want it and will return it? That seems like a vanishingly small number of buyers, and not something to be irked the hell out of. It seems likely that nearly everyone buying but then returning the Air wanted to give it a try since they wanted to see if it would work for them.

Make FB Marketplace make sense on something that's within the return period?

If you want a smaller screen, then you will be sacrificing even more battery. Think about it.
You won't. Smaller screens use less power.

With 5g disabled, my 13 mini can get through the day just using 40% of its battery, and with a 15 minute charge in my (rather slow) car charger, I usually end the day around 70%.

I did exactly the same as OP. Why I did it? After seeing so many write ups saying it was basically the perfect phone size and checking dimensions I thought the size would be fine- but it wasn’t. It is way bigger than my 15P and unwieldy. The screen is beautiful - the thinness is … fine. It isnt really THAT thin, still a lovely thing to behold though.

Also side bar - colour choice was bad this year, I get their focus on light colours but also the black was almost too black. I dream of going back to the Pacific blue colour of my iPhone 12 Pro. Which in fact was far lighter and more svelte than my 15P.

I will go back to plan A which is to wait for the Fold with a nice compact 5.5 inch form factor - I’ll have to live with the 9mm thickness. Woe is me
