This might be a shock… I returned the 17 Pro and now have the iPhone Air! 😀

The look & premium in hand feel are unmatched. It leaves the Pro in the dust in that regard.

Also I’ve already talked an out my carpel tunnel and hand surgery’s, the Air gave me no pain at all with my hand.

Despite its smaller footprint the 17 Pro just felt too bulky and heavy, also the Air’s larger screen is much nicer for how much better it feels in the hand.

Battery life was closer than I thought it would be for my usage case.

For me the Air is a much nicer device to use.

Nice to see you back to the light side!

Well I’ve returned my Air and got a deep blue 17 Pro. Loved the Air and it wasn’t an easy decision after using it for a week.

Guess I couldn’t live with the single camera as there’s been a few times I’ve wanted the ultra wide lens and extra zoom, especially for some portraits from a distance. The extra battery life will also be welcome.

Having held both now, the Air is definitely more premium and elegant and feels better in hand & just hits different with its thinness, I’ll miss that but have gained in other areas.

Function over form in my case. Big battle with head vs heart!

The 17 Pro isn’t an attractive device but I think a design change was overdue, this colour is the best out of the 3 IMO.

Wow, I’m shocked! I just today complimented you on your stunning Air photos. I am researching Air vs the 17PM and was heavily influenced by your quality photos.

Well I returned the 17 Pro! The Air just hits different, the look, the in hand feel is amazing and unmatched.

I look forward to sharing more shots from the Air 😁

Bravo! I was hoping to hear this. My Air is arriving today. It is replacing my 15PM. I had no intention of upgrading this year but a FedEx misdelivered/replacement/trade-in/return nightmare resulted in a $600 gift card from Apple. With that and the trade-in of my 15PM, the new Air will be zero dollars. I don’t care about the speaker, wide angle camera, slow charging issues being complained about. The only thing concerning is reports of heating. /excited

Brilliant! I’m sure you’re going to love it… best way to spend that $600 gift card! 😁

The charging is only slower compared to the 40w on the other new iPhones, it isn’t slow slow so don’t worry.

Heating isn’t an issue for me, sure it gets warms sometimes but so did the 17 Pro and previous iPhones I’ve used.

Let us know how you get on with it, enjoy!

Nice one matey 😎👍

I agree with you, the 17 Pro is definitely easier to grip/hold and navigate the screen because it's not as wide as the Air. But overall I think it's just too heavy imo.

It makes me so happy to see people discussing phones getting too wide and too heavy.

I really hope Apple considers those factors more on future models.

UPDATE:

Yep ..... bought it again. Same thing too, a Cloud White 512gb.

At the same time I returned the 17 Pro I bought this past weekend. The 17P wasn't a big enough improvement for me over the 16 Pro while the Air's larger screen, form factor and other serendipities (currently) overcome it missing a wide-angle.

This time I committed(ish) by porting my number over to the Air. I did set the phone up as new instead of from backup.

I kept my 16 Pro, for those times I know I'll be shooting content.

I also bought the MagSafe Air battery, couldn't resist that either, even though I still have a perfectly working original MagSafe Apple battery lol. The Air and the Air battery are truly made to go together. Despite the added weight it just feels so good. The Air feels great with or without it, go figure.

Nomad Traditional leather case, Air, black, already inbound. More for style than function but the function is there for maintaining the svelteness of the phone while keeping the screen off the surface and the camera lens off the surface.

I ordered the 17 Pro, 17 ProMax, and Air. Kept the Air. The comfort is SO much better than my old 16 Pro. No issues with the battery or speaker. I thought the camera would bother me, but it hasn't so far. I just love this phone, and I haven't felt that way about a phone in a while (since the X).

What colours?

Yeah, the Air immediately reminded of my two favorite iPhones, the X and the 6 Plus.

After 2 weeks with the Air and 10 days with the 17 Pro Max… the Air won.

Not only do I absolutely DESPISE the design and build materials of the Pros this year, but the overall experience just felt exactly the same to my Pro Max experience of the last several years. Especially once put in a case, which is basically a necessity due to how scratch and ding prone the aluminum unibody is.

The Air has its fair share of compromises and shortcomings, no doubt, but the design, build quality, feel in the hand, and decent enough battery life make it the star of the lineup this year for me. And I’m elated to spend the next year together.😍

I got the 17 Pro on launch day. Literally had dreams about the air after and returned the Pro on day 14 and got an Air. Went to a wedding that night and was disappointed with the camera compared to the Pro. Not that it didn’t take good photos, but it just wasn’t as good. Returned the air and bought another Pro. A few days later, I dropped the pro from about two feet in a case (a minimalist case, to be fair) and it knocked the orange finish on the edge of the screen. Got upset and returned it for an Air. Had it two days, enjoyed it, truly I did. But I found myself missing the one handed operation of the Pro. I had overcome the concern with the camera, but the extra height of the phone was getting to me, combined with battery anxiety. I returned the Air and got the Pro yesterday. We are having a box burning ceremony today so that I won’t be able to return it to Apple again. Part of a mental health disorder I have is hyper fixation, so I partially blame that for 5 iPhones in 3 weeks. I should know better. But this the last time. I have enjoyed both phones thoroughly, but I know the Pro is the right phone for me from a size, camera, and battery perspective. But the Air is truly something to behold and for those who pick it, you’ve got something special in your hands.

Man, I have that issue too. It’s been that way for a few months with phones, can’t make up my mind. Tried a couple Android phones and was happy to drop that idea and stick with iPhone, but I can’t stop going back and forth between the 17PM and the Air. It really can consume my mind! Probably need to be medicated lol

One neat thing about difficult decisions, like which iPhone to buy this year, is that the difficulty proves there is no clearly worse option. (If there was, it would make the choice easy.)
