I would not say the camera is fantastic, since it is missing the Macro Mode and Ultra Wide. I think the normal pictures are slightly better on my wife’s 17 Pro max and the Pro also focuses faster. The camera is definitely very good though, but not fantastic compared to the Pro’s. Definitely acceptable in most situations. 🙂
I never said cameras I said camera, yeah u are limited but I don’t miss the wide ,macro or zoom lens or need this on a phone . The camera on the air is perfectly good enough to take fantastic pictures, it’s very comparable to the pro in most cases. if I want to take more serious pictures I’d use my Sony a6700

What on earth are you doing for these tests to apply to you? What are you doing when you’re being ‘throttled?’ Or are you just spouting off weird brochure specs YouTubers have pointed out for their edge cases?

An SE has traditionally had outdated hardware. Air has the same processor and ram as the Pro. Weird comparison.
I’m not testing anything, I said I’d watched reviews because I’m interested in learning about the phone. I also said it was probably not an issue, but then having a Pro A19 is overkill for a device like the Air too.

I compared it to the Air because the SE is the entry level device historically and that’s where the Air is, based on features, but not price.

Don’t take opinions personally. It’s a forum.

I personally do not want my main device to be made from aluminum, due to how soft and dent/scratch prone it is, particularly as a caseless phone user. So that automatically writes off the rest of this year's lineup for me. The Air is for those who are tired of phones getting bigger and heavier, but also want the premium build quality and materials Apple is known for, that are not found in the base model or Pro.

Just because YOU don't like it or see the vision, doesn't mean everybody else has to feel that way. And sales alone do not determine whether a product is a worthwhile purchase or not. The sense of joy and wonder I feel every single time I pick up the Air is something I personally haven't experienced since the X all the way back in 2017. That, to me, is worth $999. But it's clearly not to you. And that's fine. Let us have our joy, and go enjoy your own phone vs trying to make us feel less than for going with the one we prefer...
Ironic that you’ve listed your preferences with how you want an iPhone to be designed but discount my observations and somehow insinuate that I am suggesting everybody has to share my opinion. That’s rather disingenuous.

My wife is using a 17 Pro and you can’t tell it’s made of aluminium unless you take it out of its case, much like you can’t tell my 16 Pro Max is titanium unless you do the same. We just have different ideas on what we want from a phone. I want the best camera and that’s about it, you want a premium feel with a lot less features. That’s fair enough.

Where were all the people defending the standard iPhones for all these years when the elitists here were mocking it for not being as good as the pro models? I remember having an iPhone 8 Plus when the X cane out and it was pretty much the same phone but in an old design and with an LCD screen, and I was regularly mocked like many others. This forum seems to have gone the opposite way now lol.

"I want the best camera and that's about it." Then why the hell are you here in an iPhone Air thread arguing with people about how it's an "inferior" device? We know what we purchased. And went with the Air because the camera is NOT our main priority...

Also, if anything, it's the Pro users who are coming off elitist this year.

Don’t present your opinions as fact and you’ll get a much different tone in reply.

I’ll have had my space black Air a month this coming Monday after returning a 17 Pro, and I’m still obsessed with this beautiful bit of hardware ❤️😃
If I had to replace my mini today, I would strongly consider the space black Air, but I rarely use my phone and my most used devices for my WFH lifestyle are an iPad Pro and cellular Apple Watch.

I think people forget we all survived on a single camera lens on iPhone for years but marketing took over, the average Joe just doesn't need it.
The average Joe doesn't even need a iPhone if that's the case.
No .5 or 5x is a no buy for me, use them all the time.

I love the air my self and agreed it's a perfect size and balance with screen size not too big not too small all so with the iPhone air and C1X modem the air gives you something completely different that out shine other iPhones
Where is the proof C1X modem is better than other iPhones?

I certainly didn't present anything as fact and it was blatantly clear I was stating my opinion.

I am also aware of how to conduct myself on this forum having been here over 12 years longer than you have and with nearly 18k posts.

I am not here arguing with anybody, in fact its other posters who have approched me to argue because my opinion doesn't suit. I have been using iPhones for 15 years and am interested in discussing any iPhone. If you don't like different opinions, scroll on.

So we all should go back to 720P TVs and 200MBs internet connection...

Progress is progress.
You know that’s not what I meant but don’t let that get in the way of your bitterness about the praise the Air is getting over the pros.

95% of people snap a photo and it ends up in either forgotten or on social media, let’s not pretend everyone is a professional photographer 😂
