Returned X.... Going to Samsung (runs away...!)

Double tap on icon on AOD (say message) will bring you to message and you can see all your unread messages.

Or you can just unlock phone and pull down notification. All your important notifications are group nicely (unlike iphone notifications which you need to waste time to scroll through). You can check-out your notifications one-by-one and inline reply just like what you do on iphone lock screen.

So your complaint is just about an extra unlock (which is very quick and easy with both fps and face/iris). But dont forget you save time with AOD/LED light by not having to on your phone regularly to check.

On galaxy you can press the 3d touch home or power button. Or you can wave your hand in front of sensor to wake device, There are also app to implement double-tap (or raise) to wake.

As I said.... wake device, double tap on icon, pick up Note, fingerprint unlock, find notification I want, then interact with it... which most of the time leads me into the main app anyway.

On an iPhone I get a text, 3D touch on notification. Done.

Which is faster? Hmm tough choice.

Have you used an iPhone before or do you just troll Apple forums? Pretty sure if I put the two phones next to each other and told someone who has never used either OS they'd agree iOS is faster when it comes to managing notifications from the lock screen.

I'm sorry but I don't understand why you keep trying to give us points about the Note 8/S8 when the iPhone X is easier and more convenient.

Waving your hand over the sensor? It's just easier to tap the screen instead of sticking your whole hand over the phone and past the sensor. Also faster tapping the screen than a 3d touch or power button.

You're saying about the unlock and face/Iris scanner when FaceID is more stable and faster.

At the end of the day it is much quicker and easier replying to a message on the iPhone X. Telling us useless things about the phone is not proving to us otherwise.

I mean I'm using the 8+ which in my opinion is easier with Touch ID, but that's up to you.

I'm talking about on the 8+... Touch ID is better than Face ID for me. Face ID worked 100% of the time, but still was an inconvenience compared to Touch ID

A couple of the guys in my team have android devices and the main one that's caught my eye is the Note8. The screen is stunning, the picture looks so vivid and the aspect ratio of the device makes viewing videos a pleasure.

I've purchased directly from Samsung, who now have a 28 dya no quibble returns so lets see how I get on. I'm sure I'll be back, but prob not until the 8 range gets a good facelift.

I've had the Note8 for about 2 months now and it is hands down the best device I've ever had (I had a Note5 before that and loved it too).

If you buy into most of what it has to offer, it will be IMPOSSIBLE for you to go back to iOS, just like trying to use a one-button mouse after getting used to multi-button mice. You'll end up asking yourself why the F Apple hasn't done this yet...

The OS freedom-of-customization, the hardware features, the pen, split-screen multitasking, the headphone jack...there is absolutely NOTHING missing here.

I recommend switching to all the Google services (music, Drive, Photos) as this will enable you to have the closest thing to Apple's (admittedly excellent) integration.

But make no mistake, this device can be daunting for former Apple "simplists". There is so much choice here that you may get lost in all the tweaking. And I'm having a hard time swithching my music library because I have several hundred albums with iTunes DRM that has been a PAIN to remove (still working on it after weeks of trying).

Despite that, for me it was worth it although I have only tapped into a few of the features I already loved from previous Galaxy devices.

I'm not saying it's not a good phone. I was just saying for notifications I prefer the notification style iOS has. I also didn't like having to wait months and months for an update if there's a bug or a new feature.

I also find that they get really sluggish after a couple of months too.

The main reason I stay with iPhones is due to the notification system and iOS

Can't argue with preference, it is what it is. 🙂

I noticed after i posted that the OP went back to iPhone...and basically the reason is the same. It's hard to break your workflow once you're used to it.

I wanted/needed more from my device and the features I use on my Galaxy devices are those that Apple doesn't (and probably never will) offer, so I couldn't go back if I wanted to.
 
Why are Android users so insecure about their phones? Enjoy what you like most, and let iPhone users enjoy what works for them. It's a daily thing on message boards and real life -- Android users trash talking iPhone users. I just smile and say okay.

Yeah thats different. Android is more customisable while iOS is restricted. But I don't really need to do anything else than what it can already do. I mainly use the phone for social networking so it fits my needs

I said one extra step to unlock didnt I?. Or zero step if you disabled lockscreen. I am repeating myself here, but you are compensated with aod/led light and better grouped/prioritized notifications.

As I said, the Note is sitting on my desk with the screen off....
wake device,
double tap on icon,
pick up Note,
fingerprint unlock,
slide down the notification shade,
find notification I want,
then interact with it... which most of the time leads me into the main app anyway.

Let's count now... That's 7 actions before you can interact with your notification.

On an iPhone I tap the screen or lift the device, 3D touch on notification. Done.

2 steps. Which is faster?

Wait, don't the Galaxy phones have finger scanners on the BACK? How do you unlock those while the phone is on the desk?
