I’ve decided I’m going to return my 13 Pro Max.

I was thinking for weeks if I should upgrade my X to the PM as the X was the perfect size phone for me. However, I was convinced I’d loved the screen size for watching and web browsing etc.

However, I’ve now had an achy hand for 2 days!haha

Will be returning this and purchasing a 13 Pro when they become available, or I’ll just order and wait the 4-5 weeks for delivery. :(
sheesh.

My bro in law has only one hand (lost the other in Iraq) - and he uses his 11PM just fine. What's next on the list of hyperboles it weighs more than your wedding ring?

I struggle a bit with the extreme size of the Pro or PM. The standard iPhone is the perfect size to hold and use one-handed. But I have found the PM offers enough to be worth the tradeoff.

Standard iPhone is the same size as the regular Pro model.

I use a Pop Socket .. I put it toward the bottom of the phone (I use a clear case). It makes the Pro Max very usable.
This was something I was considering. The MagSafe pop socket. But I thought I’d just doing stuff to make something not comfortable work when there is a product there that already does it for me

i think everyone is different. i remember when i first got the 6. it felt cumbersome after my 4s, and everyone claimed "you'll get used to it and prefer it." which... i guess i survived with it. but smaller phones have always continued to feel more comfortable. i was hellbent on the mini for that reason, but ended up getting wooed by battery, promotion, and cameras on the 13 pro.

i gotta say... i do absolutely HATE holding this device, and i don't think thats gonna change. my ideal phone would definitely be one that had all the features of the pros but the form factor/weight of the mini. and i get it... the increased size is what houses the features, so its a trade-off and i have to decide which things matter more to me.

but it is a trade off nonetheless, and i'm pretty sure i will continue to dislike how clunky this phone feels, even if i manage to get by with it.
Agreed. I remember when I went from the 5s to the 6, not even the 6+. I had to figure out what was best way to hold it. My hand ached while trying to adjust and figure that out.

I had a chance to spend some time with the 13 Pro and Pro Max yesterday when I was having my X battery replaced and I absolutely loved them. I really preferred the Pro Max and if I do upgrade that's the way I'd go. Size/weight didn't bother me at all.

That’s what she said.

You had a whole year to go to one of thousands of stores to try out an iPhone 12 Pro and a 12 Pro Max. They're the exact same size as the 13 models. This kind of thing is why all new releases are sold out for weeks. Buy and return and buy again. I get it when it's a new phone. But the 13 really is a mere 12S of sorts.

I have smallish hands, and I have to admit long gong iPhone 8 Max was a bit awkward for me. I now have a iPhone 13 Pro Max, and I am giving it a go, trying to adapt/adjust to the size difference between it and my iPhone 11 Pro (just handed down to a kid).

I've order the Peak Design iPhone case for the 13 Pro Max, that has a finger loop in the back. I also have a Nomad leather case on the way, that has an available wrist strap. I afraid of dropping the 13 Max that much.

Yes, I know this seems like a lot of trouble. But, I do like the big screen, and battery life of the 13 Pro Max. Also, I am counting a bit on "muscle memory" to help me adapt to the larger size of the 13 Pro Max.

The biggest future downside is my kid will absolutely reject the 13 Pro Max when it comes time for me to upgrade to some future iPhone. Ha, maybe by then it will be foldable :D

The 13 PM is my first iPhone of this size, I usually buy the Pro. It’s noticeably heavier and a little bit more cumbersome but after a couple of days I’m already starting to adjust to it. The battery life so far is a huge bonus and I love the large screen. Glad I decided to make the change to the Max size.

I went from an 8P to 13P. Larger screen, smaller device, bigger battery, same weight. Same camera system as 13PM in a smaller package.
But when watching 16:9 aspect ratio videos on the 6.1” 13 Pro, the effective screen size is 5.2”, which is 0.3” smaller than 5.5” iPhone 8 Plus.
Because iPhone 8 Plus has 16:9 screen aspect ratio, while 13 Pro has 19.5:9 aspect ratio (screen is longer). And most videos are in 16:9 aspect ratio.

I will get my 13 Pro delivered tomorrow by the way 😂, upgrading from iPhone 8 Plus. I hope iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max won’t be so heavy next year, so I may upgrade to the Max. But I don’t wanna carry a brick 🧱 in my pocket.

Of course. It’s a phablet. It’s not a handy phone at all.

Picking up a phone in a store and checking it out is in no way the same as using a phone all day and night.

It is 100% NOT why new releases are sold out for week. They’re sold out due to demand, not a small minority returning

I’m returning my 13 Pro and going back to my iPhone X today. Just way to heavy and uncomfortable to hold compared to my old phone. The upgrade even after 4 years is nothing special. Hoping for the iPhone 14 to be better.

I mean, what are you expecting, for an iPhone to cook your dinner? The days of revolutionary smartphones are long gone and the 13 Pro is awesome

Update: I’ve got 14 days so I’ll give it more than 2 days. I’ve ordered a MagSafe popsocket that comes tomorrow. Let’s see how that goes.

If the rumors are true of the iPhone 14 without a camera bump, probably be thicker so that there won’t be a camera bump which also means it might be heavier. Just saying

But titanium would mean it could actually be lighter… the rumors seem to indicate that Apple is aware of the weight issues.

The battery life is great on the Max. Already did a day of fairly heavy usage and it barely budged the battery level.

I won't go back to a smaller screen. I used my wife's XR for few hours and it felt small and cramped.

I'm not sure what you are expecting people to say....I'd say you have to use it for a few months to know for sure, but if you feel that smaller = better....then that's what the return policy is for. Everybody has their own sweet spot
