I returned my at&t phone to apple two days ago by mail and I’m already eligible for an upgrade on at&t again. I’m assuming you’re returning to at&t and not apple. I generally avoid purchasing from at&t at all costs.
Yeah we purchased from AT&T and returning back to AT&T. Waste of time!

I guess the Montana update was an error... today at 5:03 PM status shows "Departing Pitney Bowes Facility - Atlanta GA"

Hope I’m not jinxing myself but my original MA return from last Friday left PA en route to TX. Find it hard to believe it won’t arrive in TX next week.
Return box with iPhone sits in post office back room, buried under thousands of mail in ballots destined to arrive a day late to be counted. :eek:

Sadly I have had no updates since October 30th at 12:41 PM when it left Atlanta.

They received my return yesterday. I'm assuming yours too. I called Loyalty and they said the warehouse has to process the return before my contract is freed up. She said give it till Thursday afternoon. Really hope it's taken care of before then. Pre-order is Friday morning and I do not want to call Legacy again for this issue.

Mine still shows delivered to PB facility, Grapevine TX.
 
Not holding out much hope that mine will be cleared by Friday morning. PB has it “Inducted into PB network” in IL, en route to FW, TX. I’ll still pester ATT on Thursday afternoon, since a chat rep told me I’d be able to pre-order the 12 mini.

It says 'delivered to return center' in Fort Worth. I reckon yours will say the same today.

I hope I'm wrong, but I think the warehouse in Fort Worth needs to process your return before you will be cleared.

Mine delivered yesterday evening. Called loyalty dept this morning and they said the usual - takes 2 to 3 business days to process upgrade reversal. I spoke to supervisor and asked to escalate the process, she submitted a request. Not sure if that helps at all.

I received an email this morning from AT&T that they had received my return.

I called Loyalty and got very lucky with a super great CSR. He looked into the matter and about 10 mins later was able to remove the contract from my account through the help of a supervisor. I'm now free to pre-order Friday.

I suggest you call back as soon as you receive the email. If you haven't received it yet you should today. That email is proof they have the return in their system. Once Loyalty sees that, a supervisor should be able to process the return and free your current status.

@blairh I did not get any email from AT&T but any way I reached out and talked to CSR. She helped me in removing the contract surprisingly quickly!

According to PB tracking, my return hasn’t reached Fort Worth yet, but I hopped on ATT chat and the agent was able to push through the upgrade reversal. Assuming that goes through (should take an hour) I’ll be all set for the pre-order tomorrow!

eh, not looking so good. Maybe my upgrade reversal is done, but I still can’t upgrade without first paying off the iPhone 12 I sent back since it hasn’t been refunded yet.

You need to call AT&T, say ‘Loyalty department’ and then tell their rep you want the account freed so you can upgrade.
