so I've never bought an iPad before and got the Air yesterday. I want to return it and go for the Mini when it's available. The regular size iPad is just too big for my hands. And I think I would appreciate the mini more. Not saying I don't like the Air because I think it's a GREAT device. But I can return it even if the iPad is open and used?

Woohoo! Very nice. Then keep it and use it until you get the Mini Retina. Play with both for a week or two. Then return one on January 6.

It didn't say it on my actual receipt but I tried to click on return order on apple.com and it pulled up my order and gave me the return by date.

Did you order from Apple? I just signed in with my apple ID on apple's website. Went to return order. And it said "Eligible for return until: January 7, 2014"

Yep, this is true. As now we have entered the holiday season. The Holiday Return Policy is in effect and will last till Jan. 7th.
Ah, now I see it! Not on the receipt, but by following your instructions. Although I'm still undecided and would be scared to death to keep it that long. Might end up in non-returnable condition. I should know by end of next week. But thanks again!

So then Apple should have no problem releasing the iPad mini retina any time. Not just after 14 days since the Air's release.
No problem! I'll play around with it for a few more days but I too don't want it to be deemed "Non-returnable."
Online. Clicked on "Return Items" and it gave me a list of stuff I bought with return dates for each.
Yeah, I found finally found it (see my post upthread).
I think we were all crossing posts in the extension excitement but thanks muchly for offering help.
But my credit card bill is due in 30 days and I pay in full so I have no finance charge. If I return it by jan 7 will Amex send me a refund check for overpayment?
