so I've never bought an iPad before and got the Air yesterday. I want to return it and go for the Mini when it's available. The regular size iPad is just too big for my hands. And I think I would appreciate the mini more. Not saying I don't like the Air because I think it's a GREAT device. But I can return it even if the iPad is open and used?

If you got it from Apple, yeah. If you got it someone where you should still be able to return it, but there is often a restocking fee. EX: ATT has a restocking fee of 10% on tablets.

Lucky you! When I did an online chat with an Apple rep today, I was told 14 days from date of purchase. I also did the online pick-up but mine was on Nov. 1st. Maybe you picked up later and made the holiday extension?

I ordered at 3:03 AM (eastern time) on Nov. 1st and picked up at about 4:45 PM on Nov. 1st also. Both order and pick up on launch day :)

Interesting. Will check my original order receipt and follow up. Thanks for letting me know.

It didn't say it on my actual receipt but I tried to click on return order on apple.com and it pulled up my order and gave me the return by date.

I just checked and mine says January 7. Score!

Nice! (Nice to see a fellow Floridian even if I am in Maryland now!)

I bought from Apple online and then then did in store pickup. It says I have until January 7th :)

Yep, this is true. As now we have entered the holiday season. The Holiday Return Policy is in effect and will last till Jan. 7th.

Did you order from Apple? I just signed in with my apple ID on apple's website. Went to return order. And it said "Eligible for return until: January 7, 2014"
Ah, now I see it! Not on the receipt, but by following your instructions. Although I'm still undecided and would be scared to death to keep it that long. Might end up in non-returnable condition. I should know by end of next week. But thanks again!

No problem! I'll play around with it for a few more days but I too don't want it to be deemed "Non-returnable."

But my credit card bill is due in 30 days and I pay in full so I have no finance charge. If I return it by jan 7 will Amex send me a refund check for overpayment?
