Is the holiday policy same world wide? i ordered a smart cover in Australia on the 1st and it says return by 15th November. We had it last year but not sure when it started.

But my credit card bill is due in 30 days and I pay in full so I have no finance charge. If I return it by jan 7 will Amex send me a refund check for overpayment?

If you have a credit balance then you can request a refund check online or calling. They do a paper check if it's under $1000, over that then they do it electronically I believe. Takes about 7 business days.

If I intend on exchanging a 16gb for a 32gb version will the AppleCare+ just transfer over to that device somehow or will they have to cancel it then reset it for the new device? Anyone know how smoothly exchanges normally go in general?

I'm a best buy elite plus member and have 45 days. I think normally it's 15 days. It's much better to hold than the previous ipad but I still think I like the size of the mini. I guess I'll see how it goes for a few days.

Proceed is if you are returning and it will give you eligible date

Thanks, here's the kicker..
For me it says 'not eligible for return'. Reason being, I ordered a black version online - when I got to the store I asked for a white one.

So online at apple.com it shows I returned the one I purchased online the same day I bought it. So, it's not eligible for return.

I asked the rep at the retail store when I'd be able to return it and he said 'you have until January because we're under our extended holiday return period.

However, when I got the receipt emailed it said 14 days.

My receipt also says 14 days. But if you go online, sign in to view your order then start the return process, you will see you have the holiday extension return date. At least I do. Do not proceed to full return though or apparently it generates a return shipping label.

My suggestion is contact Apple to clarify which date is correct & hopefully get something in writing. I'm suspecting it is the holiday extension date but would like confirmation since the initial receipt does not list it. Maybe they didn't have the online system set up with the extension until later that day?

True. Unfortunately I generated a return mistakenly. Called apple and they said I now have 14 days since the return was generated and after that window I will not be eligible. Prior to that online it showed until January. Anyway I will return as I'm not enjoying the air and can't wait for the mini

Damn. That is bad luck if you'd wanted the extension. But good that you know what you want so that you can return it before anything happens to the Air to make it non-returnable.

I have often wondered-
What does Apple do with all these non-defective returns?

Do they just re-shrink wrap them and sell as new?

Buying a new product someone played with for a few days is not cool.

I know the re- furbs are tested, cleaned and they replace the case. And you are aware it was pre-owned. But do they do this with every iPad that is returned because someone bought it on a whim?

Yea, I did a couple of things to try to clarify with them. First I tried to chat: they asked me to call, I called last night : super nice guy, but he said he hasn't heard about the extended return policy for the holiday. The apple rep said, the return date would be 14 days on the iPad air.

So, this leaves me with a couple of options :

1. Return the ipad air I have now at the retail store and purchase another one at Apple.com (that'll give me back the stupid jan7 sentence).

2. Return the ipad air to retail store and buy one from target. They have a holiday return policy which is 90 days or whatever. The trade off here is - they don't carry the tmobile LTE version so I'll have to take a trip to Tmobile to pick up a sim.

3. Keep the screenshot I have where it shows the Jan7 date and just argue it out with apple if by chance they drop prices for Black Friday or whatever.

Last scenario, is for apple just to true up their policy at their online and retail stores. That way I can just enjoy the ipad air!

Bizarre & if you go by the receipt, that is indeed all the time we have. My online chat rep yesterday also told me 14 days from purchase but I didn't yet know about the online return date showing as different or would've asked. It sounds like some kind of glitch where the right hand isn't talking to the left.

I made a screenshot last night too. If I can fit it in, I'll swing by an Apple store tomorrow after a doctor appt. since I'll be near one. If I go, I'll take a print out of the screenshot along with my original receipt to see what I can find out.

Bought mine from T-Mobile store. Sticker on outside of the box says $75 restocking fee. Anyone have thoughts or ideas to get around this?

That's really interesting. Mine says I have until January 7th. I wonder if that would also affect the AppleCare+ eligibility period, since you could just return the iPad and get a new one should you decide you want AppleCare+ after 30 days.

Sorry to threadjack but what about when you buy from elsewhere (I'm in Canada with no apple retail store and didn't order online). I have kept all my packaging. How can I reset the iPad to erase all data before returning?

Settings, general, reset, erase

Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings

Hmm, I checked my account online and it says my iPad is not eligible for return at all

I think it just might be because I used a gift card and credit card. Still not sure why I can't return online.

I did chat with a representative that said we aren't in the holiday return window yet and its only 14 days.

so I've never bought an iPad before and got the Air yesterday. I want to return it and go for the Mini when it's available. The regular size iPad is just too big for my hands. And I think I would appreciate the mini more. Not saying I don't like the Air because I think it's a GREAT device. But I can return it even if the iPad is open and used?

Where did you buy it? I don't know about Apple's policy but I believe Best Buy could have no restocking fee. I could be wrong. You probably have enough time to return to read some reviews before making up your mind. I've been holding my iPad almost all day with 1hand an no strain,p. with the old iPad I really couldn't hold it with 1 hand much at all. You might find the mini to be too small so don't be rash.

Online return ?

When does return period start for Online orders ? When its delivered ? Or the minute you ordered it online ? I would appreciate if anyone has some experience with this.
