So it's "suspicious" Jenny with an update regarding my MBP return. First, one thing that I would like to interject. To all of you that have your 13" MBP's that are properly working, I'm truly happy for you. I was not out to bash Apple at all. I was frightened to go back to a Windows based machine. When I arrived at the store, I asked them to run diagnostics on the MBP. They were extremely courteous and polite and completely accomodated my request. They couldn't access the internet inside using the store's WIFI and I was relieved it was not my home network. Diagnostics indicated the graphics card and WIFI card were faulty. Since it was a special order they are shipping it back for me AND YES, I'M ORDERING ANOTHER ONE! To the individual that inferred that, "I didn't know how computers work..." I believe you stand corrected:oops:. PEACE-OUT EVERYONE AND BE KIND TO ONE ANOTHER. Thanks to all that listened, offered advice, and made this forum a positive place :):)

My experience has been 100% the opposite. This thing feels very fast and I never notice any issues with heat. My favorite laptop ever.

So happy for you!

So happy for you!

Glad you're getting a new one. They really are incredible machines! Hope the updated one is much better and you can enjoy it.

Thank you, Thank you Video Freak! Read my latest update!

Makes zero sense. These new MBPs have issues, but slow performance is not one of them! Something is wrong, and others have pointed to some possibilities (hardware issue, malware, etc.). I'd add that it could also be issues in your environment--maybe your WiFi router is acting up or your ISP is having problems. First thing I do when experiencing slow internet is check the connection speed using Speedtest.net. Besides the speed, look at latency ("ping" time reported in milliseconds--the lower the better) and how stable is the speed during the test--is the trace fairly flat or is it varying all over the map?

If the results are wonky, try rebooting the router (power off, wait 15 secs, power on). Additionally, you can check to see if you get similar results on another device.

Once you confirm that your internet connection is working as it should, then the focus turns back to your machine. Rather than waste hours troubleshooting, I'd just bring it in to a Genius and ask them to run diagnostics on the machine to rule out hardware issues. See if they can replicate the laggy performance in the store.

You bought a great machine...there is no reason it shouldn't work properly for you. Good luck!

Especially since I'm old as dirt :p

Awh Don't say that!

So happy for you!

It is a recent trend here at MR where we just start lambasting for no rhyme or reason. Glad the issue was detected definitively. Hope the new machine is flawless and gives you many happy years of service.

So happy for you!

Really happy they took care of you. 99% of my experience with Apple support has been positive. I look forward to your thoughts on the replacement.

I asked that very question! Both technical support and the Apple store rep. said he wasn't aware of this being a common issue. At one time, I had three tech's looking at my machine scratching their heads. So, I don't think it's something for us to worry about at this point. I should have my new machine by next week and I'm very excited to get it in my hands.

Are there?

Do you mean widespread issues/manufacturing defects? Or some people with faulty machines?

Thanks to all that listened, offered advice, and made this forum a positive place :):)

Congrats Jenny, you're a class act.

FWIW, Mac laptops can have intermittent wifi issues since forever. I've seen OS updates randomly bork perfectly working cards (ie. random disconnects and slow speeds), only to have them come back to full functionality on a subsequent update.

So happy for you!

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Just ignore the trolls in any future threads!

Something feels very suspicious about this account.

Denial is a strong motivator for those who do not like dissent. It appears the OP has been around for a while.
[doublepost=1533009888][/doublepost]
It seems that most of the dissatisfied people don't know anything about how computers work. Mainly whining about things without facts or analytic approach.

Seems like most of the people who do not like dissenting opinions are the first to judge. Hope your optimism shields you from anyone who is not as optimistic as you are. Keep up the cheerleading, if Apple continues down their current path they are going to need fanboys to keep the revenue flowing.

My comment has nothing to do with optimism or ignoring potential issues with Apple devices.

For example Dave Lee had facts and analytic approach regarding issues he encountered.

I'm just saying that if you make a post that new MBP is x or y without any details about what is happening or how. That is just lame and doesn't help anyone.

There is usually a polite way of going about things. You could surely have worded your response differently.

Hulkk, I agree with you to a point. When a graphics card and WIFI card aren't working, how does the typical consumer (ME) o_O, possibly quantify or provide qualitative data as to what is going wrong. It's obvious I'm far from being a programmer or technical expert. But, I don't want to be :). I just want to be able to come to these forums and chat with people that appreciate diversity in the Apple world. I almost stopped posting because of few comments and then I thought, who are these "certain" members that are creating unwritten "protocol" as to what I can share regarding my Apple experience? I've read some posts that I thought were silly, but I read them and I move on to other threads. I refrain from giving corrective feedback. In retrospect, I should have provided more data, but the fact that I didn't is okay as well. Peace friend!

[doublepost=1533030801][/doublepost]And with my super powers, I can single handedly take down Apple.:D

Yeah because one from 2008 is suspicious lol.

An actual exchange to see if the problems were isolated or not should've been the first reasonable action, not an immediate knee-jerk reaction to a machine significantly less ($200).

But hey, as long as you're happy!

Peace!

My comment was based on multiple posts about the new MBP in the recent weeks. Your post wasn't so bad, it just lacked details which would've helped us to help you.

I'm still waiting my 13"/i5, we'll see if I'll be disappointed o_O

[doublepost=1533034805][/doublepost]And I am happy. I worked with that computer two full days and made three calls to Apple Tech. Support before I posted. That's not really knee jerk to me. I recall the Apple mantra, "They just work..." That was my experience with all of my Apple products. Yes, I got a lemon. It's technology and this happens, but it can scare the heck out of someone that has paid a lot for a product : ) - Just a difference of opinion. Blessings - Jenny

I agree. I put people like that in the same crowd as the people who comment about an OS or device they tried years ago, and then form an all encompassing opinion and judge the product on how it used to be without even trying the latest version.

I don't understand the responses implying you did something wrong. You spend a lot of money. Apple gives you 14 days to enjoy your brand new machine. If something goes wrong within that 14 days, why would you want to bring it in, wait a day or 2, have them open it up and replace parts when you can just exchange it for a brand new properly working device out of the box? I think unfortunately some people have the need to be negative because they are negative people.

You did nothing wrong, and you have nothing to defend.

Follow up: Well my second 13" MacBook Pro arrived and this time I ordered the Core I7. Probably not a smart move, since I'm essentially paying for a 15". I was drawn to the 13" for the size and portability. Well it arrived, and the computer IS INCREDIBLY FAST and very responsive. I'm still having problems with the audio intermittently going off while watching a video. I assume this is a hardware/software issue. It's not bad, but who wants audio stuttering? The second issue is that the computer gets beyond warm, It get HOT! U had my laptop sitting on my desk and it felt like the papers underneath were ready to burst into flames. I know from experience, that heat kills the internals. I belief my choice of puttying an I7 w/Six cores in such diminuitive frame was unwise. I assume it's similar to the I9 in the 15". Not sure really what to do next. I know all of use are in love with chassis, but I'm worried it has become "Form over Function." Seems strange that I've had two 13" MBP's that drop audio while video is playing. Wondering if I should hold off until next year? Thanks all!
