i am afraid after apple reads all these threads about 6s/6s+ still being so capable and smooth they gonna kill the battery life, the smoothness to get people to upgrade! watch out!
I am in the same dilemma.
No doubt coming from 7 plus I feel like using a 7 in terms of screen size.
However the iPhone X gestures without the home button are so freaking awesome and smooth.
I am considering the 8 plus, does camera and smoothness on par with iPhone X??
Was your 6S on drugs? My 6S doesn't perform nearly as well as it did on 10. I've done side by side comparisons with 10.3.3 and 11.1 on 2 identical 6S models. 11 was pretty lackluster in performance with app launching and fluidity in apps across the board.- the 6s+ has not slowed down with ios 11 as have older iphones. It is still very usable. The X does not open such apps as Downcast blazingly faster. Web pages and safari do not open blazingly faster.

I've seen it. It's pretty sad to say the least.try a 6 or 6 plus with only 1gb or RAM

Whatever. The X is absolutely an upgrade from my 7. Bar none.I just returned mine and went back to my 6S+
Battery: X has a larger battery than a 8+ yet the battery doesn't last as long even though it supposedly has a more efficient screen. Multiple tests done on websites and user submitted battery stat screenshots show this. X= 7-8 hours use, any Plus model is 10-12+ hours.

Screen: The screen, while looking good at a perfect angle. Changes colors if you're slightly off axis. My old LCD Plus looks better when side by side just sitting on my desk looking at the same content.
Also about the screen, looking at it for 4 days gave me a 4 day headache. My eyes were hurting and I could not focus. Switched to my Plus, problem is gone.
Screen Size: The screen makes you think that it's bigger, but it's just a trick. There is so much wasted space that in some cases the usable screen area is actually smaller than the 4.7" iPhone 8. Coming from a Plus model, it's a huge downgrade in screen real estate and that's a big sacrifice to make for a phone that doesn't offer anything new or better in comparison to a 8 Plus.
Face ID: This is where Apple tried to solve their own problem, rather than thinking about the consumer. They couldn't fit a fingerprint reader anywhere so they added in Face ID. While it did work surprisingly well and I never had a failure. I felt as though I was trying to work for the phone rather than the phone working for me. I found myself adjusting angles, holding it just right while laying in bed, can't use it on your desk without picking it up... It was not a replacement for Touch ID, which is faster and far more convenient.
UI/UX: The software sucks. Plain and simple. Whoever designed this and thought it was acceptable is an idiot who doesn't know anything about UI or UX. I can go into detail if you like, but just know it's a step backwards and more of a process do to simple things like closing an app or shutting the phone down.
I can probably think of a few more but I think those are the main points that effect most people. The rest is just nitpicking because I expect a fluid and sensible 60 FPS experience and Apple hasn't delivered that since iOS 6... and it's not because of the hardware we have.
Have you tried iPhone 5? If so, what was your thought on it?I had a 6 Plus, 6S Plus, and 7 Plus. While I like the wireless charging a lot, there aren't enough reasons for me to go to the 8 Plus. If I decide I prefer the wider 7 Plus over the X, I would go back to it, but I would not upgrade to the 8 Plus. However, the pre X iPhones do seem dated compared to the X. Full screen, Face ID, no home button, are all very modern. My only potential hangup that I am still evaluating is whether the X keyboard feels too narrow coming from three years of Plus.
Whatever. The X is absolutely an upgrade from my 7. Bar none.
Some people don’t like change. I adapted to no home button immediately. I can’t put it down no return from me.
My 6S works very well on 11.1. It’s easily as good as it was on 10.3.3. Smooth and no slow downs at all. It's fine on 11.1?
Dang, that early? Hey, whatever you like. You got 14 days. 😉 And the price for it when it isn't necessarily the best at any important area for a phone is why I would understand.
I watched The Verge and read Tom's Guide that the camera and battery life is better on the Pixel 2 XL. The P2XL's only main flaw is the display. It's not a fingerprint magnet too since most of the rear has a matte finish. Majority of flagships including my beloved LG went all-glass this year. Eww. Not my thing at all.
I still have a Best Buy pre-order and I'm not even anticipating for it anymore. There is still a chance I will get the SPACE GRAY X on Verizon if my T-Mobile signal keeps being crappy in Anaheim Hills. I do prefer its size over Pixel 2 XL. But right now, I got bills. I got a DMV bill to pay my car registration by Jan 16. Waiting on my 1099.
Save some money. Verizon third-party reseller store tried to rip me off yesterday by having ONE silver X left but asking for $200 upfront because of some pre-bundle deal. That $200 that won't deduct from the $1000. I said screw that! People need to be more practical with finances.
I feel very relieved now that my lust for the X has worn off. I feel $1000 richer. 😉 Can go play my Breeders' Cup Classic race today and not worry about piling up more financial anxieties onto myself.
I’ve had the original iPhone, 3G, 4, and 5. When the 6 and 6 Plus came out I was hesitant to get the Plus due to the size but wanted the better features that it offered. I was of the opinion a 5.2” was the sweet spot and that the 4.7” was too small and the 5.5” was too big. However, after 3 years I have of course grown accustomed to the Plus size physical dimensions and screen real estate. I’ve set up email and other things for many people on their 5/5S and 6/6S iPhones over the last three years. Each time I do the first thing that hits me is how small the keyboard feels and how cramped it feels coming from a Plus unit.Have you tried iPhone 5? If so, what was your thought on it?
