Anyone else returned their x for the regular (not plus) 8/7? On the verge of doing it tomorrow and waiting until next year release for hopefully lighter x. Using my work’s 6 or my wife’s 7 I really miss the lighter one handed use. Anyone else thinking about it or made the move back to the 8?

I came from a regular 6 and I love the X. I had for a short time a 6+ but it was so huge. The X is just as big as my 6 with leather case and I can easily use it with one hand. And I don’t have huge hands, just regular 6’2” man hands.
But I love the real estate the X gives me almost without any increase in dimensions.

no - I'm coming from a 6s and I'm liking the larger screen and most importantly for me, the dual cameras.

But I can see your point - it is much heavier than the 6s (I think its actually heavier than the original 6+??) and it is wider enough that it could be tricky to use one handed for some - and annoy enough to want to return it.

If you're expecting the iPhone X to become lighter next year, that's hardly going to happen, let alone even if it did, you wouldn't even notice The marginal difference of a few grams.

The 8 gets almost no love compared to the X and Plus (the Plus is apparently even outselling the 8). I'm using it since launch day and still extremely happy with it.

It's more pocketable and easier to use one-handed with a relatively light weight compared to the X and 8 Plus. Also it has a fantastic camera (excellent low light performance) and great speakers. Battery life is decent, nothing spectacular but gets me through the day easily with around 7 hours of usage. It's packed with the same blazing fast A11 chip as the X and 8 Plus.

If the X and the Plus would be the same price as the 8, I'd still go for the 8. Like I said I just love the compact size for comfortable one handed use and the fact that it's so pocket friendly. I use it with my left hand and small things like having to open Control Center by swiping from the top right on the X, compared to just swiping from the bottom would annoy me so much on the X. You could use reachability on the X to reach CC, but it's an extra step and just not very Apple-esque.

There are more things I prefer on the 8 (Plus) compared to the X, but I don't want to turn this into a '8Plus is so much better than X' discussion.

If you miss the lighter one handed use, I'd say definitely return the X for the 8. You won't regret it.

I’m having a hard time adjusting to the X from the 7. With the 7 I can easily use it one handed with the issues. Not sure what it is with the X but I can’t use it comfortably with one hand. I’m not saying I can’t use it with one hand, I can use it with one hand uncomfortably.

I don’t know what is is with the X that it’s not comfortable one handed. It’s not much bigger.

I was considering x once SE contract is at least 1 year into 2 year contract.
Though I’m not convinced yet with the swipe up function though I haven’t yet tried x.
Think 8 or SE-2 next year will suffice t.b.h.
I don’t mind home button at all and no swipe up other than control centre.
Interesting time for iphone upgrades, though wise decision to go SE from 6 this year.

I thought this today momentarily as I use the X and the 7 daily.

When i use my 7 it feels light and easier to hold and thought maybe get an 8 instead of the x.

But I'm so happy with the performance and usability of the X i have dropped that idea.

I’m hoping the same will happen to me. Currently have an X and a 7. Currently thinking returning the X for the same reason.

I do. It's simply taller, making it harder to reach the top edges. I for one have no idea why they had to make it that tall. Screen format was perfectly fine before, all they had to do was adding a handful of pixels on top for the notch area, case closed. Now it's a friggin surfboard.

No, I am coming from a 5s and like the weight and size of the X (can use one handed as is my preference, and I have small petite lady hands...just had to rework how I held it). I also am enjoying using reachability to get to the upper corners at times, or sometimes using the right handed keyboard.

The X is heavier than the 8, but only by about the equivalent of a AA battery as the 8 also has a glass back. The X is a bit wider and a bit taller, with a heck of a lot more screen.

But if it isn’t working for you, exchange it. I would not expect the X to get lighter or smaller next year though, unless they take away wireless charging already (doubtful).

Like I said before I was hoping for exact same form as the 7 but with all screen.

I wish you well... May peace be with you !

That slight increase makes a huge difference. Your one handed finger reach can only go so far.
