Yes, I' doing the same exact thing tomorrow. Returning my X and picking up a regular 8. I'm going to miss the hell out of the screen and the dual cameras, but for me it's the right move. I'm hoping I can return it though, I bought mine at target and theres some micro scratches on the stainless steel bezel now. I may be stuck with it..lol

Yep having my 8 since last Friday I couldn’t be happier. I don’t miss the X screen. I do enjoy again being able to use my 8 with just my thumb and love how compact yet usable for media the footprint is.

I returned my X for the 8+ . . . . but a week later returned the 8+ for another X!

It is a keeper now.

I haven’t figured out if I hate the X or my ipads.
It’s extremely frustrating when I swipe and nothing happens.

The home button is dead to me.
The X is unreal and I can use the X one handed without any issues, not so with the plus.

I’d love to see videos on what people mean they can use the X 1 handed without any issues naked and with different type of cases. For me the X navigation on the screen is like navigating a Plus.

I have to admit that I have swiped up a few times on my 10.5 and it just sits there and does nothing. LOL!

Reachability and a right handed keyboard. And some shifting of the device in my hand as required.

No, I cannot reach "all four corners" if I do not move my hand at all on the back (and I do probably have smaller hands than you, assuming you are an adult male) but I don't find it hard to sort of re-position my fingers and hand/grip as I go if I need to reach a corner. I usually use it right handed and can reach the upper left corner easy enough if I rest the side of the phone in my palm for example, with my fingers sort of curled to grip onto back midway. I almost always use it one handed, including while doing other things (on elliptical, walking cat, emptying dishwasher, etc :))

I come from a 5s so it took me a few days to really get it down, but now I have no issues making adjustments as necessary as I use it one handed for one handed use. Definitely not like using a Plus for me at all, since that was too wide for me to really get any sort of grip on it that allowed one handed use.

I do have a Spigen Slim Armor case that is a bit "rubberized" and rounded on sides that helps, for me anyway, as it is not slippery at all and is comfortable to hold. I can even use the little opening on back (at the Apple) for my grip at times.

For most applications one handed ops is not an issue,
Why different cases, pick a case that works for you.
For me the apple leather case has been fantastic. Got tired of wrapping the phone in plastic and rubber.

I’ve set up my pages so the apps I use the most are on the bottom half of the screen, reachability takes case of the rest.

The good thing is apple provided the same chips for the 8 family, so you really don’t lose out on performance.

Just seems to me the 6,7,8 you lose screen for the other components such as the home button.the x addresses that for the most part.

Purchasing the 8+ and then testing/getting the X there was no going back to the +.
Not even for the landscape/notch issuE.

People complain about the empty space on the X keyboard. I think it was intentional as It seems to make typing easier without having to over reach.

Maybe 2019 the 8 form factor will bump the prevailing 5SE, which seems to still be popular.

I was using a Otterbox Symmetry case when I had the X which is a thicker more rugged than the Spigen Slim Armor. I need a more rugged case because of my line of work and outside activities. My favorite case is the Magpul Field case but that wouldn’t work with the X since it’s same size as the Symmetry. By using a Symmetry or even the Statement case makes the X huge.

Working in a factory setting i turned to Luvitt cases on amazon. They have great $4sales all the time. Great grip and protection along with a number of cases/colors to chose from.

In the 3 years I’ve used them there have been many drops and no damage.

Yea you lose screen but I’m ok with the footprint since I can reach all 4 corners with my thumb with a Magpul Case.

Anyone use the speck pesuido grip cases? I tend to appreciate those and the symmetry cases.

^^this ! It's like so dang awkward pushing a button on the side of a device like the iPads, especially when they're in horizontal mode it's just so wrong in so many ways :D Glad I never owned an iPad and can comfortably wait till they finally get rid of it in (hopefully) the next generation of iPads.

The actual price of the X is actually double.
One will become so impTient with the home button that they will purchase the next gen ipad, assuming it will be buttonless

I agree on the pricing point. My reason for waiting is cause I'm also waiting on the 2018 MBP 15" refresh (before I decide to go for a 2015/2017 model if the update is not what I hope), and that purchase takes precedence over owning a (new) tablet...And upgrading my 6S (soon) will be to a used 7/8/X.

So I figure by the time I can potentially pay for an iPad on top of those two big purchases, we're talking late 2018 potentially 2019 anyway.

Being more a desktop, laptop and smartphone user than a tablet user, having never owned a tablet myself, I see a physical button like the home button perfect when in hand use on a phone (though the X way is the new standard, I'm okay with that). But having such a vital function as the home button unfortunately is, on a pad device that many time will be sitting like a laptop on some sort of horizontal "table" - swiping and not having to reach over and actually physically press a button, would make for so much more of a smooth experience IMO. You can safely take away the "one hand issue" when we're talking iPads, so it makes even more sense on those...Like a giant trackpad that's obviously fully 3d touch capabable in and of itself, but with no physical buttons needed other than for turning it on and off, and volume is nice to have physically as an option...Heck, just implement the iPhone X way of swiping onto the iPads as a user option, and bam - they wouldn't even need to hurry up with a redesign and the experience for the X owners using their iPads would be a more streamlined experience. (although I think an edge to edge, no hump, OLED screen would be a huge selling point and 2018 wouldn't be too early for that, from a consumer standpoint, both for the X (which probably won't happen) but also for the iPads (which would have less need for all those cameras IMO but, obviously that will probably get a hump too and/or take years to catch up going edge to edge unfortunately...).

Message me when the 2018mbps come out. I will most likely dump my 2015 and 2017 15 mbps
