Yes I returned mine for an 8. As nice as the larger screen is, I realized one handed use is more important. Also the apps I have that aren't optimized for the notch look ugly.

I definitely prefer the size of the 8 and the X. I just don’t want a phone the size of a plus to carry around. I do 90% of my media consumption and web surfing on my iPad. If there wasn’t an X, I would definitely get the 8.

The X is a great phone but I opted for the 8 because it feels familiar but better than my previous 7 in every way. The 8 feels like a true upgrade from the 6S.

I returned the X, previous 7 user and got the 8. Biggest reason for me is the 6/7/8 is still king of one thumb / one handed use. I can reach all corners of the 8 with my thumb.

Funny how things change cause that was the iPhones thing with one handed / one thumb use.

Looks like people like me are sh*t out of luck.

If I didn’t prefer the big Plus screen and better resolution I would own an 8. The zoom lens on all of these phones is borderline worthless. I take virtually no zoom images and if I do 95% of them are horrible.

I like a larger screen than the 8 but I have 5” is max I would go cause it wouldn’t sacrifice using it with one thumb / one hand that much. I watch movies on Netflix all the time on my past 7 and now 8 and it’s not bad at all.

I believe 8 is the best incarnation of the original 6 design. Familiar but an upgrade in every way. Happy with my purchase.

Out of all of the apps I use regularly the only ones that haven't been optimized for the X are Appigo's Todo and my Google apps (Gmail and YouTube) which I find to be complete rubbish. Apps not being optimized is a really poor excuse not to enjoy this phone. For those around when the 5 was released, I'm sure you remember how long it took to get apps updated to fit that screen and it was WAY longer than it has been for this go-round.

So...after 10 days with the x I returned it for the 8 which is why I started this post. After 1 week with the 8 I just had this feeling I’m missing something big and today returned the 8 back to the x. Truth is after now using it for the past 5 hours I am really happy with it and kinda not sure why I returned it. But happy I did go back just for reassurance and actually feels like the new x is better at least in terms of FaceID. It recognizes me much faster and also while the phone is flat on the counter which didn’t happen before. Bottom line is I think we all have our own individual preferences and whatever works for you go with it!

Anyone else returned their x for the regular (not plus) 8/7? On the verge of doing it tomorrow and waiting until next year release for hopefully lighter x. Using my work’s 6 or my wife’s 7 I really miss the lighter one handed use. Anyone else thinking about it or made the move back to the 8?
I preordered 2 Verizon IPhone X 256gb. One for me and the wife. I returned mine for a 256gb 8 plus and the other I sold to my sister. Wife kept her 7 plus. X Isn’t a bad phone just not what I’m looking for.

Yeah. I had a 6s previously and want the better camera, larger screen, and wireless charging. The x I can do without the face ID, swipe gestures, and the apps need to be optimized. Plus that price tag.
I am debating getting the 8 plus and seeing what happens next year. I actually got the note 8, but not sure the phone is for me. I like the Gear watches look over my Apple watch, but Apple is just so familiar and fluent to what I'm looking for.

Can't imagine going back after using iPhone X. The swipe gesture are so easy to use much better than pressing home button every time.

The 8 has the same crap screen as the 6 and it's not one handed use for most people it's still too big.

The 7 is the undisputed king of one handed and / or 1 thumb use. The X screen navigation is like navigating a Plus and worse in some ways.

I have a little than smaller average hands and I can reach all 4 corners of my 8 with a Magpul case with my thumb with almost no adjustments easily, comfortably and securely. When I had the X with a similar case it was like navigating a Plus and worse in some ways. Now if I was going to rock the X naked or with the slimmest cases then I probably would have made it work.

So you took 2 phones out of the "new" inventory for nothing because of indecisiveness?

but yeah I agree with the individual preference thing

Yes, I' doing the same exact thing tomorrow. Returning my X and picking up a regular 8. I'm going to miss the hell out of the screen and the dual cameras, but for me it's the right move. I'm hoping I can return it though, I bought mine at target and theres some micro scratches on the stainless steel bezel now. I may be stuck with it..lol
