The phones are getting too big for the chargers. My Max Pro 13 will not fit in my 2020 Ford Explorer Platinum charging pad.

I really don’t like the look of these popup displays. They should be built in. It looks better.
Agreed. That's one reason why I bought a Cadillac XT5: The display doesn't look like a design afterthought. And even back in 2017, mine had CarPlay and Android Auto as standard, albeit not wireless, when many other vehicles, such as the Jaguar F-Pace, didn't.

I’m hoping to get in line for a Sport Touring version of this car to replace my current 2017 Civic EX-L Hatch.

There will be some nice upgrades compared to mine but this wireless CarPlay and charging system is a huge plus, not to mention the larger screen will nice to have as well (and the Bose sound).

I love Hondas, don’t see myself buying anything else any time soon!

Nice car.

Maybe it stops wireless charging for some people because the car is moving and the phone slides around. Does it charge when the car is parked...

Not everyone uses wireless charging and it’s nice to have the phone kept charged...
Also, wired connections are still the most reliable and my preference if given an option.
You had me until you said most reliable. In my experience reliability goes MagSafe > USB C > Qi wireless > Lightning > Micro USB.
If wired USB C is the default for most newer phones, why aren't they including this in newer 2022 cars? Seems strange.
USB C will be the default in 2029. Car manufactures are run by Disco Stu.

My 2022 Nissan Frontier has USB C standard.

No wireless CarPlay, but a $60 adapter gives it to me and it works flawlessly.

I bet it's fantastic and you love it though I wouldn't consider something default unless most available cars include it.

You talking about this?

If it was $60 I’d be all over it. Actually, I might be all over it anyway. Having my phone be wireless would be divine
Yes, you can get Carlinkit 2.0 and update the software and have Carlinkit 3.0, no difference in the dongles. It works flawlessly, one hiccup in two years of use in an Audi. Is it worth it, every penny, don't pay more than $80 or so. Search hard for $60, they are out there. Get the real Carlinkit and not some knockoff. I use an iPhone 12 Pro, Spotify and Apple Music, Maps, Waze, Maps Me, Here We Go, iMessage, it all works perfectly, always. I paid $90 two years ago. It also works while I am wirelessly charging too. The official box will look like the one below.

i had a 2012 civic with aftermarket carplay (pioneer) and currently a 2021 hrv with aftermarket carplay. Neither were wireless. Both these devices will play Spotify and phone calls wirelessly via bluetooth and carplay controls are responsive. i do need true wireless for waze however and am considering a wireless dongle to add that feature. the problem with using a cable is just brushing against it with your hand or moving the phone causes it to disconnect. then you have to connect and reconnect the cable repeatedly until the connection is re-established. not good when you're driving. its too sensitive and frankly its a PITA using a cable to connect but to each their own. carplay though is awesome.

also, the carplay display is just an extension of whats running on your iphone (in my case). it runs off your iphone internet so, as someone said above, a hotspot is not necessary.

I am about 6 weeks in of 2022 Civic ownership and my wireless CarPlay stopped working randomly. I restarted the car and nothing happened. I left the car for a few trips on the same day and no dice. I was able to plug in and use wired CarPlay. I haven’t tried any troubleshooting steps yet, but I can’t fathom why it randomly went kaput.
