Wow. That’s a Civic? It’s hard to tell them apart from the Accord’s at quick glance.
I agree. I’ve got a 2020 Civic, and I find these newer ones are so bland and generic looking in comparison.

Amazing, how much has the Civic (CCVC) has changed over the years. From 2 doors sardines can, to the present :)

My 2017 civic has CarPlay and has Bluetooth and Wi-Fi… there’s zero reason a simple firmware update couldn’t add wireless CarPlay to Hondas while fleet other than greed. It’s nice to see they’re good for large phones with the charging pad . My dad has a brand new Chevy with a built in qi pad and the space is way too small to fit any plus or max iPhone. He has an SE but of course can’t use it anyways lol

Honda can’t even get wireless charging right with some of their models with any MagSafe iPhone. The last TSB on it was August 3rd and it affects the 2020-22 Odyssey, 20-21 Accord, and the 21-22 Civic. This was before the iPhone 13 release and I’m sure it affects them too.

The only guess that I’ve read online is that it’s the way MagSafe charger is smaller than non-MagSafe iPhones and needs a more precise fit. I doubt it’ll ever get fixed.

Also I can’t believe they killed the civic coupe and took a major step backwards on edgy design from the last gen. Cars are so boring looking these days

Nice car.

Maybe it stops wireless charging for some people because the car is moving and the phone slides around. Does it charge when the car is parked...
Nope not at all. The way they done the pad the phone doesn’t move really.
The charging stops even when I’m parked in. Its probably an issue with magsafe because my gf iPhone 8 plus charges with no issues.
I love the car especially the sound system but this issue just sucks. It’s not the end of the world but it just sucks.

Why must auto infotainment UI's be so hideous? I realize they have to be a tad clunky for ease of use/visibility while driving, but I feel they can really date a vehicle with such a sleek interior otherwise (VW, Honda, Cadillac to name a few). Mazda has really stepped it up in recent years:

Yes, but can the car's AI for music grow and learn to give good artistic criticism, e.g for things like that kewl statue shown in the lead photograph ? I know it can see it in 3D with all its cameras.

Curiously, the statue's prominent straight lines with round terminations are echoed in the second image by the silvered round dash controls joined by a brightwork straight line. Also the silhouette of the statue is echoed in the pattern of the five-spoke rims of the car. Clearly there is some higher dimensional affinity between the car and the statue that is being presented for our reflection.

That appears to be horrendous to interact with.

Odd that Honda is putting wired CarPlay on the lower trims, and wireless on the highest trim. That's the opposite of Hyundai. I would expect the better experience of wired CarPlay to be reserved for the top trim. Not in the market for a Honda, but that could influence me choose a lower trim, just so I could avoid the lag of wireless.

I have a top of the line 2021 Chevrolet Blazer RS with wireless CarPlay, and it is great. It also has a wireless charging nook like the Honda and I have a not-wireless-friendly Urban Armor Gear case on my iPhone 13 Pro Max, and it works just fine with it when most wireless chargers don't.

The issues with CarPlay seem to come from the phone, not the car. I do have to quite the Maps app to get frozen screen on the CarPlay display to update, even when the Maps on the iPhone itself is working fine.

Just tried out Wireless CarPlay recently in a Chevy Malibu rental vehicle. It does work but it seems there's a delay on the GPS map and somewhat of a delay when switching songs compared to wired CarPlay. I ended up switching back to wired since it's going to be plugged in anyway while I'm driving.

You can charge your phone and be wireless. 2 different things. And wait till you forget your phone in the car, plugged in, and get your windows smashed to steal your phone… wireless should be the way to go, they had the tech from the start, they just want to make more money out of it.
By your logic, the car makers and/or Apple wanted to make more money by using a cheap cable years ago and should have been using a more expensive wireless connection that was less reliable until recently? I think you have let your cynicism get a little out of hand.

I believe wireless CarPlay needs a WiFi vehicle hotspot. Not all cars come with one.
Wireless Carplay uses an adhoc wifi to connect to the phone. that does not require the wifi comm unit to act as an internet hotspot. Still, the parts are there so it would not be surprising that any car providing wireless CarPlay would also offer the Wi-Fi hotspot as an option.
