I definitely dig the MagSafe mount, even if it is without charging. So much simpler to attach and take on the go.

But - does the iPhone stay on when you go over bumps in the road?
Yup. Mine does. I haven’t found a bump yet that will move it, and my car is stiffly sprung.

No idea why they don't have charging built into this, waiting on that feature...

Mines not coming until February 😭

These mounts never work effectively in circular vents.
I can confirm that to be true with this. I have had mine several weeks and it doesn't stay in position. While I got it to work for me, it's not the best of situations. My phone ends up resting on one of the way radio knobs.

I will say that I have never had my phone (12 Pro Max) fall of the mount, and I use it on a daily basis.

If you have wireless CarPlay, why would you need to even take your phone out of your pocket?
Obviously you wouldn't buy this if you had carplay. But if this device is pointlesse then so is wireless carplay since they both drain your battery unnecesarily.

I have this and I like it. My phone needs to be plugged in for CarPlay, and there is nothing getting in the way of the cable if I need to rotate the display.

Putting a piece of electronics that costs about a thousand dollars on a holder that holds it by nothing but magnets, onto an air vent of the vehicle that is NOT designed for holding the weight of said electronic. What can possibly go wrong?
It may hold when the vehicle is stationary, but last time I bought the vehicle is not to park it.

Someone please explain: Why is this preferable to any of the countless vent-attached magnets that are much smaller and lighter? I used a no-name version of one of those (actually got 2 for $9) for years until I got a car with CarPlay and it worked GREAT; strong rare-earth magnets, small, unobtrusive round vent-attached mount and a thin sliver of steel in my iPhone's case. My phone never fell once and the mount was so small you just forgot it was there.

I got the ESR one. Same price and it has wireless charging, but only at 7.5W. So far it's being working great.

Looks interesting but it does not have the vertical magnet that keeps it from twisting.

I've had a Scosche magic magnet mount for years now and just let the Apple MagSafe Charger magnetize to it and then iPhone to MagSafe. I have an iPhone 12 Pro Max with MagSafe Case. It is a great combo so far with standard driving around town.

I must say I absolutely adore mine. The magnet is very strong with or without case and clasp mounts tightly into the vents. Additionally, you can wrap your charger cable neatly around the back (it inserts into the neck) and it still looks quite clean. Only con is the weird plasticky clicking sound when I place/remove my 12 mini on to the magnet. I've discussed this in other forum and it seems common amongst owners.

This one is currently at 1 out of 5 stars on Amazon - 2 reviewers said the magnets are not strong enough, especially for the Max - falls off at slightest touch. Can you confirm or deny? :)
I have a 12 Pro with an Apple MagSafe case- and so far it holds it just fine. I go over speed bumps etc without issue but— my car is a cushy ride and you really don’t feel the bumps in it. I put it in sport though and took a turn unreasonably fast and sharp (for science!) and it held on. (Genesis G80 5.0 goes vrooom)

I also have a wireless CarPlay adapter and I will say that my XS kept a much more reliable connection to it than my 12 pro. Regardless of it being on the mount or not.

Owners will spend $40. + on a thin plastic iPhone case yet "hard pass" on an accessory like this? I need better reasons- yet the poor reviews of the iPhone falling off would be a deal-breaker.

What I've always hated is how Belkin put's their name in the crappiest place. So you always know you are using a belkin product. I avoid their products.

I hate vent mounts... this is a big no for me.

I went with a proclip mounting base and a MagSafe charging holder from a guy on etsy. So far I really like it. Hasn’t fallen once and I drive rough.

here’s the link to his store.

I have an iOttie wireless charger mount, and I routinely had to unplug the charger if it's sunny outside and too chilly to run the AC directly on the phone. On my iPhone X it just got too warm. So warm that the screen would automatically dim so that the phone was hardly useful. So I'm nervous about a magnetic device in sun, especially if they eventually add in wireless charging. So...anyone have this who has used it charging with a lightning cable, maybe in some level of sun? I'm genuinely curious and considering purchasing this.

Not related to this specific mount, but are vent mounts actually safe for phones? I can’t imagine a vent blowing hot air on a phone is a good thing for the battery, especially when the phone is being charge?
