So I was just having a look at the pictures of the Rugged on Seidio's website. Looks awesome and a lot less bulky than the 3GS version. Hopefully this is just a prototype or something but does anybody else see something wrong with this picture?

I see a couple of things wrong actually. One is that the volume buttons are mislabeled and two is that it looks like it's really difficult to get to the vibrate switch.

The vibrate toggle being hard to access is a given with any heavy duty case. That's normal. I was referring to the volume buttons.

I was originally using the Zagg InvisibleShield with my Innocase Surface II and everything was fine, (no bubbles). Decided to switch to the Power Support Crystal and now I have the bubbles on the top and on the left side near the top like others in this thread.

Some people were talking about filing down the part of the case that rubs the screen protector in these areas. Has anybody actually done it? Did it work? Were there any negative results afterwards with the case? I'm mostly concerned that doing this will cause the colored coating on the case to start peeling.

I think it has something to do with the felt lining around the camera opening causing the screen protector to get pinched along the top edge of the case. I recently tried to make my Innocase II fit with SGP's carbon fiber skin because the case had been getting really loose. When I removed the case I noticed that some of the felt around the camera opening had torn off. Since then, the bubble in my screen protector has gone away.

I also watched a video on YouTube, were the reviewer noticed the same thing.

It may not work for you, but cutting away a small part of the felt is safer than filing away part of the case.

I'll try to post some pictures tomorrow that will show where the felt was torn.

The form factor is butt ugly. Used to be a nice thin form factor. Now it looks like it's twice the size.

Here is a picture of the inside of my Innocase II. I circled the area where the felt has torn away. Since that happened, my screen protector bubble is gone.

Also, here is a link to the YouTube video review that I mentioned in my previous post:

I hope this helps :)

Nice review cosmo

I'm still a little disappointed in the iP4 case after using the 3GS cases. I was hoping for a tighter, cleaner feel like we had w/the previous models. I just can't get myself to use it. I try once a week and by noon the suckers back off and I'm using it naked w/the swivel clip or just placing it in my pocket.

I wish Seidio offered another style closer to the older ones.

Thanks for the compliment, but the video isn't mine. It's just something that I found while browsing YouTube.

GreggM3, that's a nice catch. I didn't notice that either.

i too have used the 3gs version and have nothing but good things to say about that version.

just received my iphone 4 version. its a mixed bag.

Pros: Solid construction. its safe from what a case can protect against. feels smooth. wont be difficult to get out from pockets. felt on the inside protecting from scratches. locks snug. protects the front as the case goes up over the front glass a bit.

Cons: feels thicker than the 3gs version. while its not bulky, it definitely is not the slim look some folks look for. it does bubble my PS slightly at the corners. but its a tiny bubble. was a little difficult getting off, but once you figure out how to, its no big deal.

overall, ive been using it for about a week and its not the slimmest case , but for the protection it provides, i can live with it. Again, its a mixed bag.

I've ordered an incase slider 4, so ill compare the two and then determine which is better for me...

ratbrain, you mentioned that your Innocase locks up snug and was difficult to remove. I was wondering, does any part of your case feel loose when it is on your phone?

My case was probably one of the first batches that shipped, and it feels really loose. It also opens very easily (sometimes accidentally). I've been thinking about exchanging my case, but I'm curious to see whether or not the fit has been improved in later batches.

the best way i can describe it is that its snug and fits almost exactly the way i want it. its tight enough where i dont feel the phone loose or rattling within the case and the bottom part is also tight enough where it does not just fall off randomly, but not so tight where i can not remove it.

my only criticism is that it just seems thicker than the 3gs version and it does add quite a bit of bulk to the phone. when i have my 3gs with the innocase and the 4 with the innocase sitting next to each other, the 4 almost is as thick as the 3gs.

ill take some pics and post then so people can see the comparison between the old version and the new.

Thanks for letting me know. That sounds much better than the way my Innocase fits. I guess I'll contact Seidio about sending it back for replacement.

As far as the 3G/3Gs Innocase goes, I completely agree with you. I used one for almost a year, and it was my favorite case for the iPhone 3G. It was thin enough to almost feel like an extension of the phone. I don't really get that feeling with the iPhone 4 version...but for me it isn't the thickness that bothers me, it's the fit.

Hopefully, the replacement case will fit a lot better. I'll post back when I receive it.

Update:

I just received my replacement case from Seidio, and it does fit slightly better than the first one. While it still feels loose (without the bottom of the case on, the phone will slide out easily), the bottom piece does lock into place better. It takes a little effort to get the case apart, and it no longer feels like it will open accidentally.

Also, I have noticed that different colors seem to fit differently. I ordered the blue Innocase II before I returned the gray one, and it fit much better. The blue case is very snug on the phone, and can be used with the bottom of the case taken off for docking. Even with the bottom piece off, the phone will not slide out of the case, until you pull it out. I think that this is the way the case is supposed to fit.

I would also like to mention that Seidio's customer support is excellent. They quickly approved my return and shipped my replacement within one day of receiving the old case. Since Seidio is located in Houston, TX and I live only about 30 miles away, the turn around time was especially fast...so your experience may vary.
