Don’t you mean chipholtle?I absolutely read this as Chipotle.
Neither article. But your comment might need some correction.😂"There is no equivalent feature on the ONE Spot because it doesn't have an Ultra Wideband chip, but even if it did, Apple doesn't let yet third-party companies access the U1 chip in the iPhone (though this is coming).
Just for the record, check out this article in that deadbeat rag macrumors: https://www.macrumors.com/2021/04/07/third-party-find-my-devices-u1-chip/. Only kidding but you have to admit it's funny when one macrumors article contradicts another one. So if you please, which article needs to be corrected?
This is also what I want to know. I have a few AirTags, but I’d also like a tracker that doesn’t have the “tracking alert” feature of the AirTag so that lost item tracking more effective. Was thinking for example that I’d stash one in my car.The only question I want answered and that the article did not address is whether it is more effective for stolen items. I did a test with coworkers and my airtag that I gave to a buddy alerted him he was being followed within 20 minutes! For whoever steals my camera bag one day they are going to get plenty of warning to dig through for a hidden tracker and dump it. If this product offers the Find-My global network but doesn't alert to being tracked so frustratingly quickly I will return my 4 pack of airtags. Obviously I know the "airtag isn't designed for theft" so don't @ me, but its frustrating how close it is to being perfect.
Tile is fixing that issue by suing Apple. Problem solved.Tile slim has a great form factor. The problem is it has to WORK. As a long time Tile user, I find Airtags much better in terms of actually responding when i want them to. I can’t tell you how many times Tiles have not responded when I try to ring them. I find the item myself first and can’t get the Tile to wake up until I press the button physically. The hole and form factor everyone keeps harping on are pretty secondary to whether the item works consistently.
If only all those 70s drop outs had a Chipolo finding themselves would have been WAY easier!Eat it and you will never ever loose yourself again
How do they contradict each other? The earlier article says, "Apple says that its U1 specification will be available to device makers 'later this spring,' so it will still be some time before we see Ultra Wideband-compatible accessories that work with the Find My app.""There is no equivalent feature on the ONE Spot because it doesn't have an Ultra Wideband chip, but even if it did, Apple doesn't let yet third-party companies access the U1 chip in the iPhone (though this is coming).

Well, + $200 minimum to get the lowest-priced iPhone that can take advantage of the feature.Sorry but the lack of U1 support is a dealbreaker. Yesterday I misplaced my wallet in my room and the sound didn’t indicate where it was located (the sound was muffled due to it being inside something). Only when I went into Precision Finding did I quickly locate it.
I’ll stick with the $25 AirTag + $13 Belkin holder for that feature alone.
“Built in hole.”Built in hole. I have heard it all now.
No, they aren't.If they join findMy they are actively destroying from their Android (and existing iOS) user's network and becoming an AirTag clone.
We'll have to wait for the iFixit teardown.I hope the built in hole is user replaceable.
But WITH eColi, and electronic version of the same thing… passes from one tracker to another. That’s now it works! But without the e.coli.
That they had a license agreement with a third party that would cover all the folks that REALLY want a hole for cheaper than what Apple would have made it for? What was Apple thinking when they left out the hole?

It's a proprietary hole I'm afraid, it's not user replaceable, I saw the iFixit teardown.I hope the built in hole is user replaceable.
