No lag here

MacBook Pro Retina 2.6/512/16 on ML and no lag whatsoever. I've tried mission control/spaces, launchpad, dashboard, minimizing and maximizing windows, all with dock hiding on and off and with dock icons set to both folders and stacks. I do not see any UI lag whatsoever. Scrolling in Safari 6 is buttery smooth on every page, including supposedly troublesome pages at IGN, Facebook, etc. I have also run everything using battery and A/C power on both sets of graphics processors.

It would seem that there is something causing a problem on some of the rMBP's, but mine is working just fine and I don't see any problems with the UI, scrolling, or anything else.

Since installing Mountain Lion my VRAM usage is at 100 percent with no programs open. When I use fast user switching the animation is choppy. On Lion my GPU VRAM usage was about 10 percent with no programs open. I am using a 2011 15 inch Macbook Pro with 1GB of VRAM. I've tried using discrete only and it makes no difference. Anyone have any tips?

Base rMBP upgraded to ML today. No lag whatsoever (scrolling, mission control, etc). It was perhaps slightly laggy when running on Lion but everything seems all good now.

every identical rmbp machine screen perfomrs completely different and nobody knows why. ive seen videos of two identical configurations. one stutters like crazy and the other looks like a classic. mystery. id like to see in a few months someone get to the bottom of it..

the reason for this is the lagging isnt consistent

sometimes when i switch to desktop its laggy as hell, other times its not so bad.

so i can see why comparing to machines could yield different results, since they may not be in sync

Two tips to run ML smooth:

1.- Auto-hide the dock
2.- Change the "display as" of your documents & downloads dock folders from "stack" to "folder".

Now my base rmbp runs spaces and mission control smooth !!

Thanks the display as folders got the job quite done while switching spaces. I had 4 dock folders on stack!

I'm running a clean install of ML on a 2.6/16 and mission control/UI in general is noticeably laggy on the iGPU, even with only 4-5 windows open. I'm mostly on 1900x1200 for what it's worth but I have noticed some lag in the lower resolutions as well.

It's a bug in the Intel GPU drivers causing the CPU to stall while it waits for results from the GPU. Using the discrete card should alleviate that.

I really hope this is true, because a software issue would (hopefully) get fixed sooner or later. It would be a shame to force the dGPU on permanently just to have a smooth UI.
