Happy to hear you are satisfied with your purchase. I believe I also made the right decision for me going the other way -- for an iMac at this point. And the computer is great. As I mentioned above, the only thing that I still question from time to time is the specs that I chose, most particularly whether an upgrade to the 395x video card with 4 GB of VRAM would have made sense and/ or been warranted. I try to put that thought to the side, but I still have until Friday to change my mind .

Enjoy your new computer!

Thanks! I think this thread was very helpful for me as it got me thinking and writing down the pros and cons of various elements of the decision as I was going along and it helped me reach a point where in the end the answer was clear as to what would be best in my particular situation. I hope it has helped others as well. I'm glad for you that you, too, came to the conclusions and decision you did and that you're happy with your new purchase! Like you I occasionally think that maybe I should have gone with the higher specs (i.e., gotten the 1 TB SSD) but for the most part it is easy to set that thinking aside, especially after having found a solution in the Samsung external T1 SSD. Most of the stuff I've got on the external drive is not something I need absolutely every day. I'm delighted with my new machine and I anticipate several good years together.
