I found this on the main Apple.com orders thread:

FWIW, the UPS guy told me today while I was picking up my iPhone that UPS had a massive conference call a day or two ago... he said they were told Monday is going to be a total s--- show because "they screwed up in China."

Apparently some phones were inadvertently left in China or put on the wrong planes. Ouch.

Hmmm. wonder if this had anything to do with it. I guess we find out tommorow if these are still sitting in ZZ.
Ugh

Maybe there is a rush and scans are being skipped and updated after the fact once moved further along? I hate speculating but makes sense?
Quite possible. I could see it but that 9/19 11:30 ZZ arrival that many are stuck on should at least made it through Incheon and Anchorage by now. Will be interesting to see what resolves tommorow. UPS has already automatically pushed all of these another day as a result of it still showing it is sitting there.

So do you guys think the batch that shipped this morning will also be stuck another day, or will it ship along with the batch that shipped yesterday morning? Mine shipped today and my details are the same: sitting in ZZ China currently, hoping some scans were missed.

Is there anyone else with a phone shipping via FedEx? I'm also in the 10/4-10 group. Moved into PFS and shipped at the same time as most in this thread, but mine is coming via FedEx. According to Apple and FedEx tracking, it is en route from Shanghai and on track to deliver Thursday morning. I normally wouldn't obsess...but it seems so odd that everyone else's phones are shipping with UPS. The phone is coming to NYC. Anyone else out there??
Apple does use FedEx. They delivered my iPhone 6 Plus and a Apple Watch. In the past. They use FedEx when UPS has too much of a load.

Interesting that the UPS app still has my original delivery date (9/22) when checking the list view of my shipments. Can anyone else confirm that their my choice account is doing this as well?
Mine is showing 9/22 delivery. Stuck in ZhengZhou

So the consensus here is that the scan to leave ZZ was skipped?
We're just really hoping that is the case. Or as noted above UPS may have really, really messed up and either our phones were placed on the wrong plane or they left them in China. If that's the case, I would expect Apple will be talking to UPS about expediting our phones in some way to make up for some of the delay.

I'm just hoping tomorrow is "Christmas", and we all wake up and see that my phone has finally made it stateside. Otherwise... what... maybe Monday I'll see it? Okay. If they said Monday originally, I'd be good -- but then saying Thursday and having me make work arrangements to WFH *twice*... blech.

I'm just ready for it to show up already! :p

ZhengZhou 11:30PM scan #neverforget ;)

As much as I'm hoping to wake up tomorrow with a 'phone ready for pickup' status at the local UPS center, I've got a feeling that 1 of 2 things happened:

1) The apple dates of Friday for the batch of phones I'm in was accurate. UPS goofed and posted the Wednesday date. It should've been Friday all along.
2) The phones are still in China stuck for some reason (plane issue, customs, etc).

So the fastest way to get the phone truly,is to pick it up from the ups center(service center?)in your city?rather than wait for delivery to house?
as long as you live close to center! And I can't be at home for delivery and don't want them to leave it on my porch.

I went to the UPS website and in the green section where it says in transit there is a circle with a question mark in it. When I click on it, it says "Your shipment is moving within the UPS network and should be delivered on the scheduled or rescheduled delivery date."

Anyone else see that on the UPS website?

Mine also says that. But I'm unsure if it's always there or not. Hmm

Yup I've always done that so I don't have to wait by the window like a helpless puppy

Don't mind me it's the cabin fever from being stuck in China

We might have but that may be wishful thinking. I've seen it happen before though. Apple/UPS did something like this when the 6/6+ released
