8:01PM forever...

I wish they'd have just said 2-3 weeks and meant it instead of getting my hopes up with "Your phone has shipped" on Monday morning 4 days ago. :/

Just got off of a chat with Apple, and this is what I was told:

"I do see UPS will be delivering the iPhone come tomorrow. They are updating the tracking later today to reflect that new update. I know it looked weird on the tracking but they are working on a massive shipment of those iPhones to do a super early delivery instead of waiting for the October delivery time frame that was originally quoted."

(I'm part of the 8:01 Incheon group btw)

Yay! #801Crew

It's weird how there's so much conflicting information though.

Is it just me, or does that sound like a load of BS?

This whole fiasco reminds me of the movie Wargames where "Joshua" makes up a nuclear war attack to try and trick NORAD into launch the nuclear arsenal:
Stephen Falken: Uh, uh, General, what you see on these screens up here is a fantasy; a computer-enhanced hallucination. Those blips are not real missiles. They're phantoms.

McKittrick: [McKittrick approaches Beringer] Jack, there's nothing to indicate a simulation at all. Everything is working perfectly!

Stephen Falken: But does it make any sense?

General Beringer: Does what make any sense?

Stephen Falken: [points to the screens] That!

:)

At this point I'm convinced all Apple and UPS customer reps are pulling prewritten responses from a hat and are regurgitating them to customers just to pacify them. Fact of the matter is, they don't give a damn when your phone will get to you, just know that it will come when it comes. If my phone moved a little bit closer to me every time I've heard UPS reference "Apple's Operating Plans" the godforsaken thing would be here by now.

This pre-order really went to hell in a hurry.

Mechanical failure for 2 days? Mines been in Korea since the 21st (tomorrow will be the second day since it won't move today). Load the phones onto a different plane!! This sounds fishy to me.

My apple account change to show a delivery of September 26th. UPS says delivery information is not available.

So I just had a chat with an Apple CSR and I was told that all of the iPhones slated for 9/23 should get to their destination o 9/23. I'm crossing my fingers this is true, but I believe this is the one Apple CSR who finally hit us with a very ugly truth when she told me the following:

You know the CSRs don't really know anything right?

I am still showing 9/23 on Apple. Yeah, the Korea thing is crazy. UPS has had most of us in Korea for the last 2 days, and China for 2 days starting on Monday. It does not match any logical reason. Apple is starting to show the wizard behind the curtains and I see it revealed tomorrow with an Out for Delivery.

I didn't order this year, but I've been following this thread intently as my best friend's JB 7 128 is stuck in the 8:01 group. Seeing this on the front page today made me wonder if Apple is bumping pre-orders off planes to prioritize store deliveries. That would jive with UPS saying the delay is because of "Apple's operating plans."

For those with hold for pick up at a UPS CC, there's still a glimmer of hope for Saturday lol...

basically they take us as "we're stupid". **** UPS! i would have more respect if they just come out and say, WE F'd UP". Simple!

Somebody should start a spreadsheet of every excuse used to date

Side note. Using one of these may offer more accurate results.

Apple points finger at UPS

One of the most straight answers I've gotten

UPS returns said finger.....

Just an FYI, I had that mechanical failure message when my phone was stuck in China. Then a few hours later, my phone magically appeared in Korea. I've been stuck there with the 8:01 squad ever since.

A friend of mine was upgrading from his iPhone last year and couldn't order online when the store went live for preorders at midnight. He called them and they told him they'd try to locate a 128gb phone for him to come into the store and upgrade. Some times goes by and he notices a 256gb is available so he goes in and gets that one instead last week. Then last night he gets an email that says they have a 128gb for him ready to go today. Just needs to come get it.

I preordered just after midnight on preorder night. He said I could go in and try to get his phone instead of waiting for mine. I don't think they'll allow that though sadly. I leave on Sunday for my trip to Vegas and am super bummed I won't have my new phone. And even more then that I'll have to figure out what to do about the delivery because no one will be here to sign for it.

Sucks.
