So at what point do we open a claim with Apple? I have a 11am-1pm delivery window today. I assume obviously it won't arrive since allegedly it's on a plane. *maybe*

Wait until after 1?
I'm in queue now to talk to someone. It's clear that it's not getting here today when what appears to be accurate tracking results have posted on UPS. I thought the HK arrival could have been a mistake but with a departure that matches up with a flight to AK it's clear that it's accurate. Pretty sure they can't do anything about it but at least a call will be logged.

I can confirm the Asian tour continues:
Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong 09/23/2016 7:28 P.M. Departure Scan

Being going on since Monday. These scans are still so insane it isnt even funny anymore. What an absolute mess this has been.

All the Apple specialists I've talked to said they can't open up a claim until 8 PM local time. It's just in case by some miracle all of the tracking is wrong and it does get shipped. Obviously that won't happen, but they can't confirm it missed the delivery date until it actually does

I have an open live chat right now, been waiting for a "Specialist" for 20 minutes now. Just trying to find out if there is the possibility that it will deliver tomorrow.

So it's looking like deliveries tomorrow - my next problem is that my phone is set to be delivered to my office........ and tomorrow is Saturday. Can UPS reroute or just hold my device? I tried "Changing Delivery" on UPS MyChoice and I get an error message.

What's one more wrinkle in this saga......
You can call the 1-800 number and ask ups for an "Apple package rep" if you are having problems with the web site. They have some one specially assigned for this.

So here is something interesting. I am expecting a package from LLBean with a scheduled arrival of Friday. (today).
Last night at 9:54 I got an email from UPS saying that my package had been rescheduled to Monday. No reason given but tracking showed it was already in my town.
Then at 10:18 pm I got another email from UPS saying that my package has been rescheduled back to Friday. This morning I got an email saying it was out for delivery.

UPS is whack.

I can't find a flight that matches the departure and arrival time from Incheon to Hong Kong though (not even one that's similar timing), so a flight matching our departure time from Hong Kong to Alaska could be coincidence.

Here is my chat with UPS.

Iris B.: In this case, the packages can be delivered only from Monday-Friday.

Kulpdogg: Is there any way to upgrade or anything possible for me to pick up this weekend?
chat_agent.png
Iris B.: May I please have your tracking number?

Kulpdogg: <Gave tracking number>
chat_enduser_message.png
Kulpdogg: Sorry for the delay
chat_agent.png
Iris B.: Let me check on that.
chat_enduser_message.png
Kulpdogg: Thank you.
chat_agent.png
Iris B.: I am sorry, it is not possible to have the package delivered on Saturday. Your shipment stills in transit.
chat_agent.png
Iris B.: The only packages delivered on a Saturday are the ones that were sent specifically with a Saturday delivery service all other packages are only delivered from Monday - Friday.
chat_enduser_message.png
Kulpdogg: So with this shipment does it look like it may arrive today or is it def looking for a Monday delivery?
chat_agent.png
Iris B.: The system is showing that the package stills in transit and there is no confirmation about a delay yet. New updates will be posted for this package as long as the shipment continues in transit and it is physically received in the US.

Since this is an international shipment, the delivery dates can fluctuate and are not shown yet and and it requires to be cleared from customs.

Per flightaware there are 3 flights from Incheon to Anchorage today. Flight 49 is in the air, flight 99 is taking off in 45 minutes or so, and flight 6099 has been delayed until tomorrow morning (Korea time).
I see 3 flights leaving in the within the next 6 hours.

Apple blamed the weather and said UPS will deliver on Saturday if they do residential saturday deliveries in my area.

And checked and UPS delivers on Saturday here with next day and 2-day deliveries. So Apple would have to tell UPS to upgrade the shipping, which I hope they do. They seem to be getting plenty of complaints about this.

I was able to reserve the same model I originally ordered (and which is currently in "mechanical failure" mode in Incheon) at a local Apple Store yesterday. If/when UPS delivers I'll return it. In the meantime I'm relaxing with a matte black 256 Plus in my hands. Highly recommend alternative to obsessing over UPS tracking if you can snag a reservation.

I just spoke to an Apple rep. She basically said that the UPS tracking system is 'off' and to disregard what it is saying and that the phone will be delivered on Monday the 26th, no chance for Saturday.

does anybody think we will get delivery date when we arrive in Alaska?
We should!!! I guess we need to start requesting an upgrade to Saturday delivery NOW!!!
