Now I'm in Honk Kong for some reason. This is so frustrating.
It seems like they had to ship to Hong Kong to ship more phones to Anchorage. So they shipped from South Korea to Hong Kong to get on UPS flights from Hong Kong to Anchorage. They probably have multiple planes shipping out of Hong Kong that are not at capacity that they are using to help get caught up.

I see a lot of people bugged about that, but it looks to me like UPS is trying to find ways to get more phones out and catch up after yesterday's debacle.

Apple pretty much can't do anything, obviously, just poorly handled. I asked about Saturday delivery since it was supposed to arrive by today. Says they are working with UPS. I'm guessing until it makes it to Louisville and clears customs not much will change. By then it will probably be too late for them to do anything so it looks like Monday is my guess.

Thank you! Only flight I saw leaving from Korea to Alaska was leaving in 3hrs and 35mins but it also said delayed for that one sooo I don't think I'll make that but who knows maybe so maybe not lol we'll see lol

I thought your phone was on the same flight as mine?! How could mine arrive yesterday and no one on the same flight get theirs?

I give up. My phone is on the 7:12 departure from Hong Kong shipment, but I have one reserved for pickup at 12:30 and unless it suddenly switches to "out for delivery" between now and then, I'm going to pick it up at the Apple store. I don't want to take a chance of them not giving us Saturday delivery. I signed up for the Apple upgrade program when I pre-ordered and that did show up when I made the reservation in store, so hopefully it won't be an issue. I'll report back in case anyone else is going to do the same thing. :)

Or it's going back to ZhengZhou. Silent recall?

And the saga continues...

UPS63 left Hong Kong at 7:28 PM local time and I have a departure scan at 7:12 PM. Seems to me that they are shipping them on that flight. Obviously I can't confirm it though, but it seems to make sense.

I was able to reserve the same model I originally ordered (and which is currently in "mechanical failure" mode in Incheon) at a local Apple Store yesterday. If/when UPS delivers I'll return it. In the meantime I'm relaxing with a matte black 256 Plus in my hands. Highly recommend alternative to obsessing over UPS tracking if you can snag a reservation.

How did you do this? Did you pay full price for the phone? I'm pre-ordered on AT&T Next and wondering how to go about reserving for in-store pickup without having to first cancel my pre-order and risking losing out altogether.

I understand a lot of folks are upset about their shipping information being all jacked up, but the way i look at it is i was planning on receiving the phone until 10/4 at the very earliest. If it comes earlier than that, then it's lagniappe to me.

Also, i'd much rather have a plane stop in Korea a couple extra hours or a day, rather than have a plane full of iPhones, Watches, etc, going down in a crash. That doesn't even take into account people who would be killed.

IIRC, Asia has been dealing with some scary weather the last 10 days, so the fact there is a chance we may still get our phones a week or 2 earlier is fine with me, even if i was quoted a delivery date last weekend of 9/21, which i'm sure was a mistake by UPS. Based on past history, there is very little chance shipments can depart from China, clear customs in Alaska, ship to Louisville and then onto their destination city in 2-3 days.

Just my $.02

I have the clearance completed status also....at this point I have no idea what that means nor do I believe it. My original apple message has updated to action required. Wtf does that mean, ugh.

The flight from Hong Kong is also a 747 so there's a big jet up there with more than just some phones. It makes sense that they shipped to Hong Kong to fill in the empty space of that flight.

I disagree....the shipping they used (you can go to the ups site for reference) is able to make it to the states in 2-3 days time. Just sayin'.

Thanks everyone for the replies. My recent scan says arrival in Korea and that was 8:12pm 09/23. But now has no delivery date. So. Idk what plane I'm on if any because that flightware site confuses me lmao let me know if anyone can figure this out for me

I was able to find my flight by first looking at the departure time scan from when my package left Hong Kong. At 7:12PM HK time my flight departed so I used flightaware.com to search for all flights for UPS only between Hong Kong and Anchorage. I then saw that UPS flight 63 departed at the same time as my scan so I believe it's on that flight. You need a departure scan before you can search. Take a pic of your UPS info and I'll see if I can help.

Yes, it's able to make it in that time, sure. However, that doesn't take into account clearing customs, which can be problematic. I don't claim to be an iPhone tracking expert, but i find it hard to believe a phone is going to leave China, make it to Alaska, clear customs, fly to Louisville, then get re-routed to the destination city and delivered in 2 days. I suppose 3 days is feasible and doable, but i just don't see it happening.

That would be a fair statement if it was actually true. I personally checked the aviation weather, both current and forecasted on using the same tools used by UPS. There was no weather on that route that would delay shipment. Period. I posted the links to the weather sites to prove it.

What is true is the shipment process was/is a train wreck. But, it's not due to weather.

does anybody think we will get delivery date when we arrive in Alaska?

IMO Apple has instructed UPS not to update delivery dates until shipment is in US. Not sure if that will be when it gets to Anchorage or Louisville. I think they don't want to get 10,000 calls when people get Monday delivery dates. They rather wait and maybe upgrade some to Saturday delivery and seem like they over delivered than say Saturday now and then a delay stops that from happening.

I agree , it sounds crazy....but it's their claim. At this point I need to change my delivery to Tuesday next week....ups charges 5 bucks for this, whatinthahell.

Add me to the "Departure Scan at 7:28 P.M from Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong" group. My spidey senses are telling me delivery today is out of the equation.

Glad my iPhone's getting some travel time or whatever, but I'ma need this Eat Pray Love tour to end and my phone to show up. Kay, UPS? Kay.
