Because there are some even behind us getting "preparing for shipment" lol. Check other threads.
I think a lot of the people "whining" have no movement at all since ordering. I can understand the frustration of people who ordered well before someone who has movement. This is an exciting time, and people have the right to feel how they want.
...and because Apple every year...sets delivery dates then ships way earlier than estimated...it will this year too....there is no way we will wait until October....yes, it is a bit silly...us playing Apple's game and getting impatient and excited about our new toys...we must seem pathetic to you...totally understandable for you to feel superior to us...which is why you are free to not follow this thread anymore.
For those of you who status has not changed to "Preparing for Shipment" yet I wouldn't worry until after tomorrow. If it doesn't change your wait might be a little longer.
For those of us that are currently in the "Preparing for Shipment" status I think we'll have a tracking number by Monday with a possible delivery by Thursday at the earliest.
Just my guess based off past experiences. "Keep hope alive"

I've had no movement since ordering, and I'm in the October 4-10 camp. I'm not whining. The dates are what they are. What some people are saying is that other years orders have moved up (absolutely true), and so therefore THIS year there's a sense of absolute entitlement that it should happen again! Like I said - it MIGHT happen. But it's not guaranteed, and no - people have NO right to expect their orders to ship earlier than the dates listed.
There's a huge amount of logistics involved in shipping this many orders. Some will ship earlier than others, even with later order times. That's how it works.
Do I check my order status a few times a day to see if there's movement? Absolutely. Will I complain when there's no movement? NO.
Now, if you want to start a whining match, we can talk about why I wasn't able to get my order in until 12:40am, despite being ready on the strike of 12....

Judging by past experience .. if anything will happen, it will happen tomorrow evening as it will be Monday morning in China. Updates usually happen late evening/overnight due to the time difference.
Mine was charged last night and preparing for shipment. Same exact model and carrier.
Terrible decision by the logistics folks at Apple to plan a iPhone release around a nation Chinese holiday...one way or the other, their workers in China are mad for having to work or customers mad because of no movement of their orders...
