"Rose Gold" Doubters

Tim Cook was on The Late Show last night and Stephen Colbert had a Rose Gold phone. If you've the CBS app you can probably see it in better resolution but here's what I found on youtube:

I had to search for it on the front page after you mentioned it, but the video is only partial and doesn't show the phone I wanted to show the Rose Gold phone. I don't think there can be too many videos on that that can there 😛

Why do most of our color choices have a white bezel? Maybe because the white is more popular?

In the U.S. It seems closers to 50/50, but internationally (both in my travels and with my students), white seems to be vastly preferred.

Rose gold is tacky. Just like gold is tacky, in my opinion. While I appreciate the need to customize and create options for the consumer. Rose gold and gold? Give me a break. Are these phones? Or are they jewelry?

It's just tacky.

I would have preferred Apple mix and match their traditional monotone colors/materials like: black, white, aluminum, glass, slate, spacegray, even a matte white (or "space white") option.


Imagine a phone like the iPhone 5S's design. Two panels at the top and bottom, a back, and a side bezel. You could mix these options into phones to create more options for consumers:

black and slate
all black
space grey and black glass
space white and aluminum
silver and space grey
silver and black glass
all space white
space white and black glass

and so on


From there, they could customize to their own liking (maybe Apple could have provided gold and rosegold skins for the phones, but at their barebones, they could remain neutral).

These Slick Wraps look very nice. I am kinda stuck on the Sedio Surface with holster as I am not a phone in the pocket person. The Surface case covers up the back without adding bulk and give great grip without being "sticky". The Surface case has the same feel of the top of a ThinkPad, kinda rubberized.
