Please stop posting fanboy mock ups and product renders. This is not news or even rumors. Do you REALLY think Apple is going to look at some fanboy iPhone concept and think "Hey, lets do that next". All this is a very despite cry for attention from graphic artists hoping to be recognized by Apple and maybe hired by them, but only if Jony Ive's keels over and dies first.

The concepts don't bother me and they drive a decent discussion.

Cook took over in 2011
iPhone 5 through 6s entry level storage was 16. Was Jobs telling him what to do while Cook slept?
Since I just gave just one example which you didn't like, how about changing the Macs to soldiered in ram so buyers had to pay upfront for upgrades or forever be locked in with less. Pushing the upsell. Cook is king of the bean counters. Great for his previous role, not so great for his current one, at least from consumers' point of view.

I don't really see the problem. If 16GB wasn't going to be enough, then buy a model with the storage that you need. Thing is, 16GB was adequate for most people for a long time.

As for the soldered RAM, it's not really that much of a problem. Baseline has been 8GB/16GB (depending on model) for quite some time now. I'd admit a 4GB base model was stingy, but the buyer should take into account for how they intend to use the machine over the next few years and choose a suitable config. If people want to cut corners and go for a low spec machine just to save a bit of money then that's their fault.

What about iPhone 4 and 4s and iPad 2? Cook was following what jobs started. The iPhone 5 in 2012 was still jobs. But let's not let facts get in the way of a good tirade.
So, hardly a "tirade" to say that Cook took over as CEO in fall of 2011, he ran entry level storage as 16 GBs through the 6s. One could even argue that 16 GB was fine for the 5. It is not a crime to upsell. It just rubs some customers the wrong way. As a big Apple fan I worry about user experience. Those entry level units run out of space fast and when it's gone people have a bad taste in their mouth regarding the product and will choose something else next time around. But Cook's the numbers guy and if limiting entry level storage and soldiering ram in Macs doesn't increase churn then so be it.

Which people have a bad taste in their mouth? Can you quantify them? Or is it just a general statement without any fact check. Did people have a bad taste in their mouths with the 4 and 4s or the bad taste started with cook?

I'm sure Apple will think of this. Usability is still a big thing for them. When they came out with the 6 Plus they even made that one-handed mode, whereas the Android manufacturers of big phones didn't bother.

Where did you think Apple lifted the idea from?

I'm just wondering what will they want next after all that crap will become real?

None of these mockups seem to take into account how existing applications would behave on a bezel-less screen. It is fine to have the system UI in floating round-rects to avoid palm-cover up, but are we to expect full screen applications to do so as well?

Why should there be a anniversary edition ? There wasn't an anniversary iPod or Mac. Why do people believe there will be for the phone ?

Ok except this one any other known anniversary edition ? I mean not even for the 30th Mac anniversary there was a special product. Well let's see. I only see a 10yeard iPhone special edition as likely as the return of the headphone jack to the iPhone. Maybe I'm wrong.

Sure, I will start with my children. We got them the entry level 4. A few months into using them they constantly hit capacity. Then there was trying to update over the air. If you remember there was wide spread issues with users having issues with over the air updates.
Now let's take the users at my work. They would come to me complaining that their iPhone was saying they had no more room and what could they do about it. They too couldn't update over the air as they didn't have enough free storage. Yes, I opined based on my life experience.
Maybe you didn't read the whole thread because it didn't get carried through but the idea was the entry level iPhone didn't provide an adequate amount of memory. The point I was making was that maybe Steve Jobs did have a lot of input on the 5 and it was clear that earlier models were short on entry level storage, when Cook took over he could have created a bump sooner in the entry level iPhone so as to make the entry level buyer not regret their purchase simply because it lacked storage.

Okay, so you bought the wrong phone and you're blaming apple? If you're checking account is constantly in overdraft do you blame the bank?

My son has a 16gb 5s, which is currently his daily driver. He manages his storage (which is something that needs to be done anyway, no matter what the capacity)

I did read the entire thread and my opinion is you have to know what you are buying and if the price/value equation isn't there for you, buy something else. Basically you blaming cook for something jobs, maybe should have a done with the iphone 4 back in 2010.

Too bad you missed the point.

You must be new to the Apple world.
Tim Cook is the master of the up sell.
For years and years the low end iPhone had a ridiculous amt of storage as just one example. It is sad, I agree. But it is what it is.
Seems like cook might have learned this from jobs.
Not true at all. It had very little to do with Cook or Jobs, and it certainly wasn't about "liking" Cook. You missed the point.
Don't think so, but so be it.

Oh, I completely believe he picked it up from Jobs. Why not? Not really new to retail. "You want frys with that?" Has been around for a very long time. I cast no aspersions as to its use. My point, as I stated, was that I was concerned over users not having a good experience with their first Apple product because of storage issues. Many new people to a product line get in at the bottom because they want to spend as little as possible in case they don't like the experience. That way they won't feel they wasted more money then they should have. The comment, they shouldn't buy the low end if they don't want to deal with that is not a good answer. Even an entry level should provide a good user experience. I won't even get into the appalling treatment Apple has given the headless Macs.
Nice chatting. :)

Same :). But I can't be responsible for the masses. I am responsible for myself. If apple gives enough people "the virtual shaft" it will be noted in their revenue. From last quarter that is not the case.
