Were you around for the iMacs of the late 90's?Yuck!!!
we got pretty close to that one with the 5C!
Other than they used a black bezel...not a white one (which I would have preferred)
These mocks all fail to address the hard truth, in that Apple would only create a new screen that maintained the same pixel ratio. So either the screen constrains as it increases in size, or the edges and home button area are separate non-app sections of the screen.
I feel sorry for the case makers.
Some of those look decent. I still want one of these from the concept realm to come true.

There is room at the top and bottom of that screen though for a touch bar. Same screen, same aspect ratio, same resolution but with added controls at top and bottom. These mocks all fail to address the hard truth, in that Apple would only create a new screen that maintained the same pixel ratio. The 7 was more of a 6ss. The rumours began before it was released that the big redesign would be this year.are they skipping the 7s?
I just want a physical button to use in case of freezing
Why should there be a anniversary edition ? There wasn't an anniversary iPod or Mac. Why do people believe there will be for the phone ?
Problem is that most mock-ups are not even realistic that one could say you know what that is possible, it just so out to lunch that one wonders if some substance was involved.
No one is saying that a mock-up will be spot on with a released product, however envision something conceivable to reality. It would be similar to me designing an iPhone the thickness of a sheet of paper, with present day technology where is the battery and components, completely unrealistic. If an artist is not going to be even remotely realistic why bother with unrealistic concepts.
The only one that makes NO sense is having a screen on the front and back. No privacy at all. Also, twice as expensive to make.
I like how, with all the doomsayers and the phony controversies, taking our beloved audio jack, they still sold 78 million in a quarter. And the Doomed Watch did quite well.
Ok except for that AND the iPhone is not yet 20 years old.

Be glad that we don't have any 2018 iPhone rumours yet. This time last year, the 2017 iPhone already had a number of articles on it.

Though there likely will be an iPhone 8s in-between.

You need to put the selfie camera somewhere. Putting it next to a home button area at the bottom as some smartphones have done has downside of giving your selfies a lower perspective with a better view of the inside of your nose and probably also a higher risk of covering the camera with your thumb.
Love mockups. Bring on more of them. At least someone has to have vision and something to shoot for!
These are all nice and sexy, even if implausible.
Now, if only Apple would borrow the app tray from Android and let us set up the home screen the way we want to, they'd be one step closer to winning me back.
iOS wish list:
Back button (or swipe or force-press mechanism that does the same)
"Close all" open apps
Split-screen multitasking
Filesystem access
Mouse support (iPad mainly)
USB-C/TB3 (not Lightning)
Apple isn't locked into a 20-year timeframe for their anniversary products.
Or if there will be no display at all. That the phone holds the processing, battery gubbins but it also acts as a placemarker for an augmented secondary device (like glasses or a contact lens) that renders the system over the top of it. That'd be nice... and about 20 years away.
Usability was abandoned when Ive took over all Apple design (vs just hardware where he belongs). What ever happened to Human Interface Design language?
