Contrary to rumors that Apple will announce new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros powered with the yet to be announced M2 Pro and M2 Max chips in November, a new rumor has suggested Apple will instead release the new laptops next year.

According to a post from the account "yeux1122" on the Korean blog Naver, citing a supply chain source, the updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models will not launch until early next year, around the March timeframe. According to the account, which has a mixed track record, supply chain activities related to the updated MacBook Pros are operating per a schedule suggesting a launch next year, not November.

Historically, Apple has launched new Macs in November multiple times, including the original 16-inch MacBook Pro in 2019 and the first three Macs with the M1 chip in 2020, adding credence to the idea new MacBook Pro models were imminent.

Bloomberg's Mark Gurman has said he expects the new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros to be released in the "near future" and "within the coming months" as rumors have suggested a launch in November to follow past precedent. During the company's latest earnings call, Apple CEO Tim Cook said Apple's "product lineup is set" ahead of the holidays, possibly suggesting there will be no new product launches this year as Apple gears up for the holiday season.

There are clearly issues and delays at TSMC...I just hope that by next fall they can get on the 3nm process for M3 and start the rollout then to align with A17.

Well they've been hit with huge manufacturing delay around May-June.
So its not far off to assume they would delay the new Macs to move the old stock first.

If the new 14 and 16 inch Macbook Pro's are released in March next year.

I think Apple will skip the M2 nomenclature and go straight to the 3nm M3 for the pro and max CPUs.
My first reaction was:
That would make no sense at all. They introduced the Pro Chip and Max Chip after the regular one, why would they change that now?

But then I thougt for a moment more:
This would make sure that the M3 Pro and Max wouldn‘t sound outdated as soon as the consumer chip is released.
I‘m not sure that will happen, but I would understand (and approve) the move.

They were never ever coming this year. Just nonsense rumours for clicks, and everyone could see that.

The m1 pro's only came out 12 months ago on a brand new architecture, there will be 18-24months on any platform before revision on macs i think due to the cost ( they arent the same as the 'A' line, people tend not to get a new laptop every week like a phone, they are normally on 2-4 year cycles. )

The 2021 16” MacBook Pro is the best Apple products of the last 10 years. It has the best display I've ever seen, the best speakers, the best battery life and performance per watt. I wish Apple took inspiration and added an equavalent to the iPad Pro line-up. The 12.9 iPad Pro isn't on the same level. The screen is much smaller and has significantly more blooming, the battery life is way worse, the speakers sound weaker and there are no Pro and Max chips.

If there’s M3 update on the MacBook Pro side, I think I can wait until then. Sucks that the trade-in value would be way worse after the product release.
Touch Bar is not as good as some might suggest and 1TB is not enough to keep both photos library and OneDrive folder fully accessible offline anymore.

In March 2023 we could get a Mac centric event that will be jammed pack.

--> 14 and 16 inch M3 Pro and Max - Macbook Pro?
--> Mac Mini with M3 Pro?
--> Mac Pro with M3 Extreme?
--> 15 inch Macbook Air with M3?
There is no reason for Apple to skip M2 Pro/Max/Extreme family. The fact, that TSMC starts/will start 3nm doesn't mean, that Apple will immediately simply skip perfectly good and tried process/family, that especially on M2/A15 level of actively cooled SOCs with more CPU and much more GPU cores will eventually shine (as opposed to basic M2 update mostly in passive M2 Air).
Apple is primarily a business, that lives on perfectly OK incremental updates and upgrades. The jump to M1 from Intel, with unprecedented OS/SW adaptation, was a one time thing - we (and many tech channels feeding hopes over reality) should have reasonable expectations and not "push" for what would simply wouldn't be a smart business practice. Apple doesn't have to go "2x" everything every cycle nor it should try, regardless how much I'd like faster and better at once ;)

I think this also confirms that the Mini will have at least an M2 Pro variant and Apple will announce it at the same time as the new MacBooks. Otherwise the M2 Mini would have been announced this past summer with the MacBook Air, like the original M1 announcement in November 2020.

This is just speculation but I wonder if with the marginal performance gains the heat is definitely increased. Which comes with more fan noise. One must wonder if M1 Pro/Max isn't a better choice. The no more rocket noise just by watching youtube is just relieving.

Well there are likely only one customer for N3. So I wouldn't be surprised if Apple decide to use N3 for all of its Mac ( may be iPad as well ) processor. And N3E for iPhone.
