So, what will it be?
  • Magical Retina display
  • Ultra HD Retina display
  • Retina Pro display
  • Retina s display
  • Super duper mega high res Retina display
  • Retina 180 display (curved)
They will butter it up as much as they can to hopefully mask the fact it's the lowest resolution flagship model.in the entire industry..

Don't know what to expect with an OLED iPhone. Could be a basic 1080p AMOLED display or they might try to compete with the QHD market segment. I want them to surprise us with a 4K display, but that's not happening.

'Now, in a new research note, Kuo said the much-rumored premium iPhone model will indeed have a 5.8-inch OLED panel, but with a smaller actual active display area of between 5.1 and 5.2 inches. Kuo said this is for "specific design purposes," which likely points towards a wraparound or curved display of some sort.'
-----------
So, if the premium model will be a 5.8" panel rather than 5.8" display, the 0.6 or 0.7 of an inch (1.778 cm) difference could be the wraparound as Kuo said is likely for "specific design purposes". We may still get a bezel-free model sans touch button that is touch screen sensitive within a 5.1/5.2" display. The 1.778 cm wraparound would be for cosmetic design ala the plate of glass look Jonny Ive would so much like to see. :)

But, where will they put the USB-C Thunderbolt charging port? :p

I go back to a smaller OLED or IPS screen size like 4" or even the 4.7" if the next iPhone has a much more higher resolution maybe QHD like 80% of smartphones over $400 right now. The 5.5" iPhone is just adequate at HD! Come on Apple, in a couple of months, it is going be 2017 and still at 720p? That going on 6 years since iPhone 4 at 720p! That 3X the screen resolution of 720p for those would don't know!

Why would Apple buy 5.8" size OLED to install and use only 5.1" for active screen area ? Mr. MING is confused by bad information supplied to him from up and down (stream).

Not really. iPhone rumours have always been around no matter the time of year. All you've done is very loosely retrofitted a leak to an unrelated product announcement that in your eyes has been met with disdain.

"in your eyes" You are joking right? Either you are ignorant or disingenuous in trying to downplay the new macbook pro controversy. It's been widely met with disdain, especially among the pro users. So much so Apple had to do damage control by lowering prices on their adapters in some cases by 50%. But it's just in "my eyes" right?

Here's what professionals think of the new Macbook in case you missed it:

The two stories aren't linked, sorry. Unless you have proof?

The best way to read this is he doesn't have a clue and is just throwing out any rumor that comes his way.

This article isn't very clear and doesn't mean much in terms of what we will see in 2017 in my opinion. I'm not trusting Kuo on this one.

Apple is making a tremendous error if they don't release that all new iPhone in 4" sizing.

Says who? Clearly a 4 inch iPhone is not in the line up for September 2017. Perhaps 2018. But that doesn't make it an "Error."

Interesting. Amazing if possibly. I highly doubt Apple would give us this, exactly what some of us would like.

It's sort of crazy that (for me anyhow), Apple keeps making laptops and desktops smaller and thinner (which I don't need at this point) but at the same time the one thing I do want smaller, thinner and lighter (my phone) they continue to only invest for the future going in the opposite direction (big phones with all the newest ideas/stuff)

I have noticed that no one applauds about thinness anymore. Touting thinness has been met with silence during the last few keynotes at least.

Yep - Largely because things can be "too thin" and then awkward/uncomfortable to hold and fragile, etc.

To me just "making everything thinner" shows a lack of good ideas of what else to do.

Not a good sign

I think there is something up. I also read a rumour about the fingerprint /touchid beneath the display glass but not in the active screen area , or something like that.

I thought about it and after the introduction of the MacBook Pro with Touch bar , it hit me.

Apple will use some kind of Touch bar principle in the lower bezel, with customisable icons you can choose yourself or is app controlled.

It could even mean that the app dock will be shown in the lower bezel, or video controls when you started a video app , etc. It could even mean that the upper bezels will be used to show notifications(like the LG V20).

So one big 5.8 inch screen as a front, with a real active screen of 5.2 inch to show content, and the "inactive" areas used for controls, shortcuts , touchid/homebutton in the lower bezel and notifications for the upper bezel.

One big disadvantage will be that it would only be possible with iPhones to do this stealthy with a black front glass iPhone .

Congrats on making us more confused with your clarification.

Aye, carumba.

Lg v20 already has touch bar.
The whole iPhone is a touch bar.

If you needed absolute proof about how lackluster Apple product releases are these days it's when Apple rumor sites like this start to rumor the next product very shortly after the current release is finally shipping.

It is obvious people are more excited about Apple's possibilities then the reality of their results.
It proves nothing. Rumors happen when they happen. Period.

You should text them that.

How would you know? Do your secret Chinese supply chain sources say otherwise?
