I'm always hoping they go to iPhone (5.4/6.1) and iPhone Pro (6.1/6.7), ditch the numbers and weird car manufacturer add-on letters (S/X/Max/etc.). No one buys a new phone every year, this isn't 2015 anymore.
Apple needs numbers to sell new devices alongside old ones.
I’ve wanted to see cleaner naming myself too (say a lineup of iPhone SE, iPhone and iPhone Pro). But I can appreciate when they have to sell alongside older models. Though the past few years the OLED models haven’t really hung around. Xs replaced the X in the lineup and 11 Pro replaced the Xs.

The Apple Store doesn't sell older OLED models, but carriers do and continue to order new stock from Apple. You can still buy a new iPhone 7, X, and Xs from most major carriers. Old models probably represent a good chunk of sales. A number still works best to differentiate this year's iPhone 5G with next year's 5G model.

Glad you and many others are pleased with the iPhone options Apple provides to all their customers. Though you may not realize it, the price of iPhones is driven by features (screen size and tech, cameras, etc. and needed memory. And not by simply having options available.

The good news is, if one is flummoxed or perplexed from having options available, there are plenty of other mobile phone manufacturers willing to sell you a one size fits all phone.

Simply choose and pay for a phone that meets your requirements and budget. Easy.

It's so easy, I have to spend so much time researching which iPhone is best for my friends and family since, as I already mentioned, they ask me every year which phone to get.

Economies of scale play a huge role in the cost of the device, not just features. Not to mention, less of the standard dark color/storage configuration I want gets made in favor of providing a variety colors/storage so the one I want is sold out. Okay fine, I'll just pay more for the maximum 512GB version on top of the already inflated price due to lower economies of scale, right? Or maybe I just wait a month. Or maybe I'll just choose the awful gold color no one wants. Or maybe I'll get the big phone I'm probably going to regret. Or maybe the budget phone that I *might* hate. So many options. Easy.

I’ll definitely be upgrading from my iPhone XS to this generation. Having a preference for smaller phones, I can already tell it will be a tough decision whether I go with the portability of the 5.4” or the superior tech in the 6.1”.

Tried the pixel 3 last year for a week and the only thing about that phone that stuck with me is the size. It was a 5.4(non XL version) and the ease of use for me was nice. Can’t wait for the 5.4 version

WTH is asking for thinner phone? It's already awkward to hold without a case. Make it more durable, not thinner.

It's awkward to hold without a case? Maybe grip wise because the glass is more slippery?

I'll take a thinner phone as long as it doesn't impact improving battery life and durability. More pocket space is always welcome in my books.

hopefully they keep the same megapixel count so that the pixels are larger and have a larger dynamic range. That's more important.

The 6.7" Max Pro should have 4 camera lenses. A new lens to make crisp pictures up to 10X. 4 lenses would likely also sell much better in China.

What about 2 lenses for the front camera? 1 lens can see you when the phone is resting on a table.

Make speakerphone sound quality much better.

Boost phone call earphone loudness higher for noisy environments. Match loudness better to very noisy environments.

The phone needs built-in call recording. Almost all call record apps are charging monthly fees. Would be nice to have a transcribe feature for recorded calls.

Quite happy with my iPhone X and plan on running this one into the ground. My Kareoke friend is still on an iPhone SE; I keep bugging him about upgrading. Always responds with a No thank you, happy with what I have. He just bought an iPad Pro 11 inch which he loves though.

Keep the same thickness and add the biggest battery possible. We're using our phones for more and more, they need to have the battery life to support that. The 11 Pro Max is the first iPhone that I can get thru the day with, as long as I don't spend the day taking pictures on vacation (or stream a lot of YouTube). But I'd rather not think of battery life at all.

Presumably(hopefully) the thinner profile comes from the recent advances in OLED panel technology and not at the expense of battery life...
Keep the phone the same thickness and increase the battery size to get there. If people complain aren’t complaining now that they are too thick then I really doubt that they will complain when it’s the same thickness along with a much longer battery life.

Since this appears to be an incredibly difficult process for you to deal with, apparently causing you a boatload of unnecessary angst, simply purchase a phone from another manufacture who offers limited options. And be happy.

If there is no high-end phone smaller than the current 11, I'll be holding on to my 11 Pro for another year. The 5.8 size is perfect and anything larger is a deal breaker. In fact, I'd actually prefer smaller, but will always opt for the Pro camera. The X/Xs/11 Pro struck this balance perfectly of matching the best camera with a reasonably sized phone.

I fear that Apple is discontinuing the 5.8" size because it sells the least. What they fail to recognize is that it sells the least because of price, not because of size. The masses don't really care, so they buy the 11. The next largest audience just want the largest screen possible and buy the Max. Probably the smallest audience wants the Pro bells and whistles but doesn't want a big phone. I get it, but sadly I fall in that group.

Oh good. Considering it wasn’t mentioned that phone to phone wireless charging wasn’t going to be a release then one must assume that the hardware I paid for / already have in my Xs Max will be turned on soon!!

We couldn’t perhaps make it to maybe February, or spring, before talking about the Fall release of the iPhone. Since Fall is exactly 1 month behind us still. Do we have to put up Halloween decorations today too?

Yeah...I totally love answering the annual question "Which new iPhone should I get?" among family and friends.
Also enjoyed that 1 year I regretted getting a plus sized phone.

Funny, that was the same year most everyone else loved their plus sized phone. If only there were a way to please both parties... oh wait!

The Back Telephoto & Back Super Wide will very-likely be the ONLY sensors that will be updated.

The Back Wide is Good to Go as is !

Here we go again. Over seven months to go and we’ve already started the rumor mill. Guess I’ll just close out this forum and come back in 6 1/2 to 7 months from now, and count how many threads there are on what the next iPhone looks like or what it’s gonna be called or the color. o_O

NO! I like my thicc Pro MAX and XR! Advances in Display tech make it possible to make it thinner you say? Ok, then make the battery bigger! More battery!
