LOL! I wanted a Mac mini with Blu-ray and instead I get one with no optical drive whatsoever.

27" on the iMac is too big surely. I spent an hour on the 24" at the weekend and felt it was big. 24" is probably as big as i would want to go. Its a pity the got rid of the 24"

Do you know when you'll receive your new iMac?

Memory

Do you have to get the upgrade in memory from apple or can you get the standard base and then upgrade on your own at another store?

Time Capsule

it's on there. Says better range and stronger wifi.
Different from the update a few months ago (when they added the dual band to the Time Capsule) which said the same thing?

I checked the cache at Bing (Google already updated) and the phrasing is slightly different but I'm not seeing anything else. From "best" to "greater"...

I do see the part number difference MB996LL/A vs. MC344LL/A (new) though (for the 2TB).

Are they considering this a "New" generation?

Thank you,
Gary

And I'm assuming that that upgrading yourself will be less out of your bank than getting it from apple right?

Very much so!

Apparently so.

According to the two sections that were "updated" (attached), "New technologies in Time Capsule and refinements to Time Machine make backing up to Time Capsule using Snow Leopard up to 60 percent faster than before" and "improvements in antenna design give you up to 50 percent better performance and up to 25 percent better range than with the previous-generation Time Capsule." It must be new today since those sections say "Updated."

I prefer the white plastic
Backlit Keyboard
SD Card slot
Firewire 800

Good. Oh wait, there's no firewire at all in the macbook? Bad.

smaller hard drive
upgradable to 4 GB RAM
lighter weight

You sure you can't upgrade the ram over 4gb? They also say "up to 500gb" on the hard drive, but I can't see why you couldn't drop a 1tb in that?

BTW, I like how I always get the last word.

I think he meant 8GB. The MBPs officially support 8GB while the MB goes up to 4GB (officially).

As for the HDDs, they use 2.5" drives and the maximum is 640GB at 9.5mm and 1TB at 12.5mm. Supposedly all of the unibodies can support the 12.5mm (according to OWC).
