Yes please!

I really need more storage. I would like 256GB, but with the Apple-tax on storage, who knows how much that ATV would cost.

If it is just an A12, performance wise, it is on par with the current A10X.

I really hope it isn't the A12.
I think the reason it was delayed from Fall 2020 to sometimes in 2021 was because they intended to have it based on a A14.

it's been rumored for at least the last 9 months ... so let's try 2021 ... I actually feel rather confident it will happen in 2021

I like the next Apple TV 4K to be able to be a wifi ethernet bridge with a ethernet port on the back. Make it more useful then just a set-top box for content/games

I say, throw an M1 in there, ultra wideband, and a separate audio out. That'll only add $400-$500 more to the cost. :)

Apple released the current Apple TV with a “stronger gaming focus,” which became unfocused pretty quickly. A lot of Apple Arcade games are practically unplayable on it. I hope they pack more iron (or silicon, as the case may be) heading into the next round.

I hope this is correct.

Storage is becoming a big issue for my 64GB ATV4K, so I would love Apple to release a new ATV with more storage, but I would be really disappointed if it only has an A12.

Maybe an A12X might be worth it to be to buy a new ATV, and definitely an A14, but just an A12 isn't an upgrade based on benchmarks, and could even be a downgrade for real world GPU performance.

The current Apple TV models are 3 and 5 year old designs. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to predict a refresh.

If they do introduce the Apple game controller, I hope that does not eliminate the xbox controller support that is baked into iOS. But at least Microsoft could always release an xbox browser that has xbox controller support built in for their xbox game pass.

The back-of-an-envelope calculations were carried out by IBM AI strategy lead Sumit Gupta. He estimates that M1 chip production will cost Apple somewhere in the $40-50 range, against around $200 for the Intel Core i5 processor in the MacBook Air...

I'm not convinced most users need faster speeds and more storage. The main issue with ATV for me are the clunky app driven interface, the horrible remote and the price tag.

- When I launch my ATV, I need to choose which service to use, find that app and launch it, navigate through its menus and select the content I want to watch. (I guess in the US everything is integrated in the TV App, but not in Belgium).

- When I launch my Android setup box (that came with my provider), it starts playing live video immediately and I can swap channels like a regular TV. The smart stuff is a separate layer. Far more logical for a TV environment.

Well if Apple wants to expand on gaming with a new Apple TV, why not pack the device with the M1 Chip instead? Since it has been proven that Switch games can run with this processor. Apple and Nintendo (both powerful companies) will be an unstoppable combination and be able to dominate console gaming.

Do you find that your TV is moving around the room?
He's talking about the feature that lets the sound in AirPods change as you turn your head, simulating a surround sound system in headphones. It works currently with iOS devices and nothing else, but would obviously be a great fit with ATV.

Siri is your friend here. It's not perfect, but it does seem to be listening specifically for movie and TV titles, and is usually fairly accurate. I can generally hit the mic button on the remote, say "What We Do In The Shadows" and be taken immediately to a screen that offers me a few viewing options -- including Hulu, the one I want. Again, not perfect but in a lot of cases a hell of a lot better than rummaging through whatever idiosyncratic design a particular app has.

This rumor is getting old. It’s been the same form factor and very little changes model after model. If a new one comes out and it’s the same old same old I’m going to be annoyed that they made us wait this long.
