I have spotted another weird thing with custom runs now with the current PB

On my (very) long run the Saturday it was fine on the watch with segments and recovery etc. but afterwards the last training segment is gone and my cool down longer than it was? Then interval training today - the warm up not showing? What is going on?
That’s exactly what happened to me last Saturday (and the reason of my cursing here 😂) The custom workout was consisting of 10 work / 10 recovery intervals, but the 8th work interval simply “vanished” (a lap wasn’t marked), there’s two consecutive recovery intervals as if I skipped it.

The closer the release is the more I’m curious whether they manage to fix all the running bugs on time.

I think I need to test a intervals workout tomorrow (even though I’m just running it easy) with the RC Beta to see if it has been fixed

I’ve done an Open Run with the RC today. There are several small gaps but those didn’t seem to cause anything unusual.

I wasn’t watching the pace extra carefully but I’m quite certain it was incorrect / too slow at least in one segment (~10:00/km instead of actual 6:30-40/km); there was no gap at that place, rather the route was recorded incorrectly / shortened - on the attached map, the part from A to B should be in a more or less consistent pace/colour, and should follow the same path as the opposite direction. Instead, it’s shifted and goes red (very slow) and then bright green for a bit (very fast - I’m 100% sure I didn’t go sonic at that spot!). - Anyway, it’s probably just an one-off glitch, i.e. nothing to worry about; posting it here just in case there’s a pattern (similarly as with the missing lap/interval).

Other than that, it was okay I guess. Will try intervals with RC tomorrow too.

Was this a S7 run with or without iPhone? If you had your phone, it uses that GPS antenna still - try Airplane mode on the phone (not watch!) next time maybe to force it to go to the Watch GPS

So now that the RC is out for a few days, what is your conclusion? watchOS 10 still bad for runners or only minor issues left?

Btw, as beta time is over, we could come back to the main running thread:

Since installing Tuesday evening, I've had two open runs with it and no issues at all - Still think my Ultra is using a bit more battery than WatchOS 9, but no disaster.

I have a half marathon race this Sunday, so fingers crossed that the pacer functionality is still great!

Wow! Great! Congratulations on your suberb race! Really strong!

Now we have finally a proof, that an AW Ultra with watchOS 10 is for serious runners!

I love that this is the take away! Hate the notion that you have to have a Garmin to be serious, when the Apple Watch (especially since WatchOS 9) has evolved so much for runners! I absolutely LOVE my Ultra in my marathon training and the build in LTE just makes it a killer combo so I always have the option to call for assistance - just in case. Also with 100+ KM weeks in peak it's pretty great to still be able to get calls/texts from my family if in need.

Next stop is Bremen Marathon October 1st - that will be the real challenge!

Happy running to all - Mondays are a great way to kick-start the week :)

Great to hear! Wish you good luck for the Bremen Marathon. Never heard of that one yet though I live in Germany.
Can’t await the delivery of my Ultra 2 this friday. Even though I was a serious runner (39/10k, 1:27/hm, 3:05/m) a while ago and only do recreational 100km a week nowadays. ;-)

We are a group of four visiting Germany every year for different runs in often smaller arranged races and sometimes bigger ones - Bremen this year, Munich last year and before that Wolfsburg, Dresden etc. :)

Wow your times are great - still have a little to catch up I can see

Maybe a small glitch - official time was 1.28.27 although my activity app says my fastest half is done in 1.23.11, but I ran with watch clocking 1.28.07 (know that pressing the start/stop button at the right time is a little of, but that’s me🤷🏻‍♂️)
Would be smart that I could modify my time to 1.28.27, like in Garmin so future recommendations would be correct.

Half and full marathons are weird in the medal department. Seems like the take the time from 20K and 40K instead of 21.1K and 42.2K - Over five minutes would fit your last 1.1K plus/minus?

My fastest marathon medal is 11 mins and 12 seconds too fast and the half is around 4 minutes and 50 seconds too fast. The full marathon was from May so WatchOS 9 and the half from Sunday with WatchOS 10 GM. So no fix here.

I've never run a full marathon (yet at least), but I see a similar odd behavior on my best half marathon. You're probably right that the time is actually the 20K time.

I submitted feedback to Apple about this.

Well the 2 last I did in 4.12 and 4.14 🤷🏻‍♂️

So I did custom intervals this morning (10 x 1 km tempo / 3’ recovery), one recovery interval dropped out again. I’ll be adding new diagnostic data to the previously submitted feedback, let’s hope there will be a fix sometime soon…

(Series 7, clear skies, with iPhone in my pocket - can try without the phone at some point, but these days I mostly do solo runs in areas where I feel safer with a phone… though the next intervals training on the track could be suitable for testing that!)

Edit: Whoever is experiencing the issue, please do submit data via the Feedback app! The current status is “Unable to diagnose with current information” 🥴

I have reported it as well - Called it "GPS signal loss on custom run".
Resolution: Open
Recent Similar Reports: None
