I'm sorry if this has already been hashed out but I'm looking to run 2x HD4870 in my windows boot in crossfire and want to make sure that there are no issues with OSX 10.6.

I know I'll need the Y connectors for power but want to make sure that with dual monitors attached to each card that OSX will work properly and crossfire can be enabled even if I only get one display output.

I've not done anything with my mac for 3 years and just now updatening the hardware. so take it easy on me if this is all old news! LOL

I run 2 Apple 4870's. Under OS X there is no crossfire support. I run 3 monitors constantly without any problem. Under windows Crossfire works with the latest ATI drivers, single display with crossfire or without crossfire multiple displays work ok.

I use an extra powersupply for my 2nd card, but im sure a Y splitter will suffice.

Refer to my setup earlier in the post to see what I have done.

I've got the Y connectors ordered and on the way. I just need to pick up another HD 4870 like the one I have and I'm going to give this a try. I like the idea of having crossfire under windows. I have dual 24" Dell monitors and a Dell 37" HDTV that I would like to hook up as well.

just came back accross this thread thought I had put this in but haven't.

I finally got crossfire working quite a few months back with the Apple OEM Cards without changing firmware or anything. Gave up a little while ago but when Windows 7 came out upgraded to that in bootcamp and chucked the latest ATI drivers on. Pronto Crossfire finally showed up and I could finally enable it. Works without a hitch. The problem I was trying to solve in this thread just turned out to be lack of driver support at the time.
